Hall Sensor R&R
I'm surprised there aren't more threads on this since I thought it was a common failure item?
https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...with-pics.html
Should i be looking on the 944 board?
I've got to change the knock / nox (sp??) sensor also.

There are 2 knock sensors(94460614500) on the car that thread into the block at or near head mounting/gasket. They can be seen through the intake manifold runners. Probably can get the Bosch OEM versions but supposed to replace the bolts (90007551801) with the factory already applied blue loctite and torque, see workshop manual. About $5 each from P. The sensors are a knock/detonation detection/adjustment system and not a nox as in emissions detection system.

You can probably find more information over on the 928 board; that community is pretty active in finding and documenting alternatives for these kinds of issues.
For example, there are well-documented Bosch alternatives that can be used from BMWs (for things like the CPS). For the Hall sensor, the consensus seems to be that you mostly just need to replace the male connector that crumbles over time; the sensor itself seems reasonably bulletproof). Vendors sell kits, but I've found that sourcing those kinds of parts through places like Mouser or DigiKey is often way less expensive.
Cheers

thanks for the info
I also confirmed the "hall sensor" I'm having issues with is the camshaft position sensor, not crank shaft position sensor (or other sensor).

Thanks, I think you can change one without removing the intake, unsure about both.
Be well

It should be possible to crumble the connector down to pins and then put the pins into a new connector shell:

...then seal with silicone or the like.
