Default Wheel Caps, Black/Silver or Colored?

What are your thoughts on the center wheel caps? It looks like they came from the factory uncolored. I currently have uncolored ones on the car but they're not in the greatest shape. So I'm thinking about replacing them.

From the last wash.

I'm thinking the colored ones will make the car "pop" a little bit more.

By all means get the colored ones. Unfortunately they are darn expensive!

I’m with Yogi: painted on silver wheels.

Best price I have seen is $82 each. YICKS.
I have two faded colored ones, some need 2 or 4?

Painted for sure. If you find faded ones it's not hard to touch up the paint IMO.

Yea, I saw a post where Testor Hobby paint is used to reburbish fades ones. However, my hand it not that steady.

I have a set of 928-361-032-11-TPP that I removed from the wheels I sold from the 951. They look like this set below, but this image is of a set I sold earlier. The actual set looks similar but two of them have a small dark discoloration in the paint at the corner of the crest. $150 shipped for the set. If anyone is interested, I can post a picture of the actual caps... I just had this image handy.

Doesn’t really take a steady hand. Shake the bottle and use the cap as a paint well and use a toothpick as a “brush.” Have a Q Tip and lacquer thinner handy in case of mistakes. Hold the toothpick like a pencil and, resting your hand on the emblem or wheel center dab the paint into the appropriate spacers. That’s how I did the spaces between the letters on this license plate frame I “restored.”

BITD, Chuck Peterson was the VW dealership in my town, and back then you could order a Porsche through them. (Provided you let them display it in the showroom for a bit when it arrived)

Yep, that's how i touched up the red paint on my painted crests. Propping your hand is critical when possible.
