Service appt advice
Hello! Had tire issues with my 968 and the spare was also flat. Could only get scheduled for July 10th to the dealership. Also gonna get my oil changed as well. Is there a way to haggle or any advice is welcome? Thanks

LOL. Of course. The point being there should be a Porsche compressor in your trunk. They came with the car like the tool kit. If it matters, you can find them on eBay. (Maybe even buy yours that the PO took out)
FWIW, I think the Slime-branded ones you can get at auto parts stores are just as good and more compact. The only drawback is that they don’t have an integrated PSI gauge.

TBH, I think you’d be better off have an indie Audi place deal with any engine stuff, as the engine has more in common with Audis than it does with any other Porsche engine.
I lucked out at the indie shop I used to use in Las Vegas. The tech had driven 944s and 968s for years.

I'm not sure? That's the issue with driving such a unique car Lol. The independent garage by my place only works on BMWs and another never returned my call. The dealership was able to change out my cassette player to a more modern radio last yr, so Im kinda optimistic.

I have a lot to say about this but am saving it for the full journey write-up I am doing on my 968. Just yesterday was the last effort to fix everything ( for now) and many thousands of dollars. I am in Newport Beach and while for my 930 I have lots of options everyone of my normal shops I used for my 951 loathed the idea of digging into the 968 even though it would be lucrative.
My dealer ( Newport) that services my newer models has the occasional 928/944 my SA flat out tells me to go independent. They are a dying breed, that conversation happens nearly every time. It won't be the lack of fossil fuels that kills these cars but parts and service.
I am jinxing myself but for today every single thing on my car works...it should almost everything is bloody new.

Well, in defense of (some) dealerships, accurate service can be obtained. More likely if you would take it to a dealer that is a registered Classic dealer. For most jobs, I prefer to do myself, since I'm not a fan of $150-250/hr labor. If the job is bigger than what I have tools or time for, then I look to the dealer.

I was hoping the 944S2 cab that was there last time so I could take some pics, but the Classic Sales Mgr told me they sold it the day after they put it in the showroom. They had just sold that RS America for $185K.

Well it's getting closer to the appt. Found out the tire has a nail in it and gonna try to get it repaired. Will this air compressor pictured work for the flat spare? The Porsche dealership is practically down the street, so once it's filled should make it Lol Any other advice is still appreciated.
