Default Where to connect this Vaccum Line?

Found this vaccum line off of the bottom front of the intake manifold hanging and not connected to anything. Is it supposed to be connected to something?

I can't seem to find the valve it might need to connect to? (Pic below)

From the picture, it looks to me like that vacuum line is running to the fuel pressure regulator. Thankfully, the FPR is easy to see and find in the engine bay.

Good luck

Thanks for the response. So if my vacuum isn't connected to the FPR, what symptoms, if any am I suppose to have?

I also can't find the fuel pressure regulator lol

As to symptoms of not having the vacuum line connected, probably nothing too major during normal driving. However, I think that the pressure increases with vacuum, so if you're really winding it out, maybe it behaves a little differently at high rpm. I don't have any kind of confirmation, but these vacuum aided FPRs are generally called "rising rate" regulators, so this is a little bit of conjecture on my part. I guess I might expect the engine to run a little lean at high rpms, if your regulator is working, but the vacuum is not connected.

For safety reasons, however, it's nice to have that vacuum line hooked up since, if the diaphragm ruptures, the fuel will get sucked into the intake, and not fall down onto any hot bits, like the exhaust.

You can find the regulator under the beauty cover, at the top of this picture of the yellow car. You can see 2 lines running to it, but the regulator itself is underneath. You might still be able to see if the vacuum line is connected; I don't have a good sense of what might be exposed way back there: https://tcct.com/news/2020/06/1992-1...rgotten-jewel/

Cheers

Fuel pressure increases as vacuum decreases and decreases as vacuum is applied. This is so to increase fuel pressure to the injectors as throttle is applied.

I went out to check this morning.

Pic 1 - Looks like the regulator is already connected to a hose that goes to the back of the intake manifold.

Pic 2 - is where the line is not connected to anything. I zoomed out so to see the reference points.

Not exactly your car, but not unrelated, either. Maybe this will help: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...e-diagram.html

A hard plastic line connects the “Y” on the FPR to the front of the intake manifold as shown in the picture you posted where it’s traced in red. A rubber elbow connects the manifold end of the hard line to the manifold. In your picture I don’t see the hard line from the Evap system that attaches to the top of the throttle body. Your pics are taken a little too close for me to get the big picture.

Thanks for the response Cliff. This morning, I tried to trace all the vaccum lines. Found another one disconnected (not sure if it should be connected though - indicated by red).

I also took photos farther away.

The vacuum line to the top of your throttle body is definitely absent. If the line laying loose is from the valve if front of the fuse box, it is the line that attaches to the throttle body.

In total, I found 2 hard lines disconnected so I connected it to the soft vacuum hoses where it'd reach. I got a feeling it's wrong(?) but would it be that much of a difference as long as it's connected to vacuum?
