Default brake master culinder availability

Does anyone know where there is availability of brake master cylinders outside of the outrageous prices when sourcing from the dealer?

A few years back I switched to Ate 03.2025-0111.3 which was intended for a BMW. This master has a slightly larger bore in the cylinder for the fronts so produces a little more front bias and a slightly shorter pedal. Not a big difference but was a nice improvement. I think I had to get this out of europe, but I don't recall it being overpriced.

There are rebuild kits too I believe.

Thanks for the info! I have been searching for rebuild kits also, but no luck so far. Going to contact PMB Performance tomorrow to see if they would have or know of rebuild places for the MC since they are Porsche brake experts.

In the wholesale world, the 968 master is currently unavailable from SSF or WorldPac. You may be stuck with ordering it from Porsche. I would not use a "similar" master cylinder, just asking for trouble. Current part number is 951-355-011-04. Good luck.

I did some extra searching, and will be contacting White Post Restorations tomorrow in addition to PMB to see how much they charge for rebuilding a master cylinder. Seems like there has to be a less costly alternative available to keep our cars going.

I ran into this when my clutch slave cylinder went out. Drove me crazy most slave cylinders out there are $30-$60, but of course the 968's are now close to $400. Thankfully there is a rebuild kit that worked out well...this time :/

Update to my earlier post in this thread. PMB does not rebuild master cylinders, and White Post Restorations said that they have not done any master cylinders for cars this new. While they didn't expressly say no, that was my takeaway. Back to the drawing board!

I haven't cross checked PET to see if the 944 part carried over to the 968, and I don't have the full rundown on where I got this information, but I put this in my file on alternative parts for the master cylinder on my 944: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...t=1836&jsn=861

That link goes to a 1991 Volvo 740 with ABS. If I had to guess, it came from an interchange list that I found on yoyopart.com, which has all kinds of interchange parts listed.

Good luck

Not sure, but from what I could look up, it appears that the bore size isn't quite the same. I will keep researching and see what I can find out. Appreciate the lead - since this is a safety system, it has to be right the first time.

When my clutch slave cylinder went, it went with a BANG! Fortunately, I was parking at a friend's house at the time. When I asked my Indy garage about rebuilding it they just laughed.
So I got stuck with a big bill.

This is the brake master cylinder, clutch slaves are still available at a reasonable cost.
