Default WTB not so common stuff/44 nerd wishlist.

Posting here too cause, well a lot of this is 968 stuff. Figure I should cover the spread.

Hi.
My 951 has been getting a ground up. It's a 86 3.0 8v. Fresh glasurit lm3a (nice and thick), new oem pretty much everything. It's been a long time coming. I'm down to the last few bits to finish the build. Of course manyof these parts are some of the hardest to source in the 44 world. I figure if anyone has them, it's someone on rennlist. Searching mostly seems to bring back old posts, and in most cases that vendor is no longer around.
  • 968 cab rear cubby. -Deleting the rear seat. Might put in roll bar. not sure.
  • Carbon fiber strut bar. -Getting the 944only firewall brace, and seam welding the strut towers. Figure need a top mount bar.
  • 968 turbo rs replica wing. -All the ones that look high end and exact replicas I never get an email back on. So far just design911, and they don't look very close. It's gonna be real expensive to make the design911 wing look right it seems.
  • 968 turbo s trans. -not sure the part number944.300.030.01, but with the taller r&p.. I was last quoted a pretty low rate for this. I'm fearing It's shot way up and I'm too late, and it's over my max number. Cause of the blood orange car. I can't remember any more whether the gears, and r&p for the 01e can be had to replicate it. I'm planning to call Germany this week to follow up with a vendor that used to be able to supply them.
  • Center console armrest delete. -I think I can get it from pelican, but I cant find it, or a part number.
  • Early model NA sunroof latches(body side) -The ones that the latches on the removable part of the roof latch to. Like striker plates. I ripped out all the electric sunroof junk.
  • Carbon fiber interior trim kit. -The old well known vendors for high quality CF are no longer. Whose got the good stuff?
  • Front chin spoiler/splitter. -What's the best in 22 and on the shelf? Pics? Anyone got CF?

Prefer NOS where possible, and oem. I think that's it. I have pretty much everything else, or it could be had readily online or ebay, porsche, etc.

You are right, Pelican and others still have the center console delete tray.

Maybe not the CS center console delete, but very nice and really cool. IMHO.

Not sure why you are seam welding the strut towers. The spindles, hubs, or control arms will break before the front strut towers separate. The motorsport versions of the 924-68 series did have chassis reinforcements (varied depending on model), but to my knowledge the front strut towers didn't get seam welded. People have done it - to what benefit I am unsure.

Very few Porsche Motorsport cars have ever had seam welding - except for a few small reinforcements. As far as I know, only some of the RSRs have ever gotten seam welding. The "Cup/RS cars are seam welded" claim has always been a myth - for any model.

I think the console tray is number 944-552-155-00, but not sure.

There are likely some wings and transmissions floating around in Germany.

As for the final drive, the Turbo S seems to have used a 3.40 ratio. Some VW/Audi 01Es seem to have had a 3.55 final drive - not sure if it is a drop in though, or if it has any weaknesses.

Yes, 944 552 155 00 1DB is the part number for the CS tray. I like that option. Looks factory. Retail is $50, you should be able to get it for $40 or slightly less.

For the CF strut bar, how about this piece?: http://www.944er-teile.de/produkte/domstrebe.htm#

Cheers

They may not have seam welded the motorsports cars... back in the 1980's. It's 2022 now, and metal fatigue is real. I want to stiffen up the front end. I built this car for maximum reliability. It's really not a big deal since everything is ripped apart already. Basically all the wearable or troublesome parts are gone. replaced with OEM. I don't want to take it apart again for decades. I want this to be a 500k mile car. Garbage sunroof, done. Constantly leaking PS rack, gone, put in a early 44 manual rack. Bushings? All monoball and poly.. etc etc.

You'll also need the rubber mat that goes inside. PN 944.552.161.00 which the cheapest I can find online is $67. Both are special order parts which may or may not actually be available. I know just a few years ago the tray was NLA from Porsche. Perhaps it's available again. The bird site sells them together for $130 but don't know if they are factory or aftermarket.

I got my CS tray and rubber mat recently from Delaware Porsche Parts (I think!). I suspect that will be the easiest on your list of asks Sounds like a cool project though

I bought one from Sunset last night. I'm waiting to hear back from Porsche classics in Chandler about "procuring" much of this stuff. They're looking into the clubsport rear cubby "rear box". 3-9 month lead time.
