Default Odometer just kicked the bucket

I just filled up my car and reset the odometer and it's not ticking anymore. It was ticking up until I reset it at 110922 and change.

I have to drive it at least to work and home tomorrow before i can attempt to fix it in September. I can track the mileage with waze/google. But still problematic. I log all of my fill ups at the gas station with the trip odometer but not the total mileage. Feel like I just watched a bunch of money just fly out of my wallet.

Anything else I can do?

Sad face

plastic gear. gear is cheap, but don't fubar the speedo needle when you're taking it apart... renders the entire gauge useless.

Timely post: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...eter-gear.html

I think the only semi-major impact will be to your time on this repair. However! You might have the chance to correct the stippling on the gauge cluster, if you're so inclined, and get it back to a nice black. You know, since you'll be in there. This is on my own list to do when my car goes down for some major, needed repair.

Good luck

I was going to do it on my 951 a few months ago, but sold the car. I bought the kit on Pelican Parts and gave it to the next owner.

When I'm in there fixing it, can I manually roll the odometer to where it should be? Or is that a no-no? It'll be about 50 miles off when I park it tonight.

I am curious why would a 50 mile discrepancy be an issue? I don't think you can roll it without providing an electrical signal to it to get it to move normally, but really don't know.

Where are you in FL? I am building a house in Wilbur by the Sea which is just South of Daytona Beach. Down here almost all the time. Need to get my 996 down here sometime soon. But I have no driveway at the present time! Septic tank going in.

Looks like you might of been in the Navy, I was in 85-91.

It's easier than you think. It's also the only time I've ever used my wife's hot melt glue gun. (on the Porsche anyway)

I am still in the Navy. Got 4.5 more years til I hit the magical number. The car and I were in Jax but we're in Ohio now. I found one of the jobs in the Navy that's away from water that's not PERS. Anyways, 50 miles isn't a big issue in the scheme of things, just want it to be correct if I ever move on from the car. If I get it fixed without driving it anymore, it really won't make a difference.

I knew it was a ticking time bomb and it went. Not a huge deal except I can't fix it at the moment. Definitely be a much bigger deal if I had to keep driving it.
