The wheel is made by Atiwe, not Momo, and was not designed for that car. It was introduced approximately 5 years earlier.
No version of the 968 saved Porsche. But, I suppose you can post-rationalize anything.

Yes, it took Toyota to teach Porsche how to make cars profitably. Understatement, they succeeded incredibly well.
Love the Atiwe Steering Wheel! What car was it developed for? Is it as well made as a Momo?
How hard it it to fit? Does the center section quickly activate the horn?
Thanks,

Steering wheel swap was super easy. And yes, the center section activates the horn provided you install the switch from a 944 / 928 - part no 928-652-104-00. Mine came from Delaware Porsche Parts and was indeed made by Atiwe.

I'm not sure what car, if any, it was specifically developed for. I think it appeared as an Exclusive option around model year 1988. The earliest cars I've seen it on is the 959. I'm not sure if it was a standard option on the 959 or ordered through the Exclusive department. The guy who runs the 959 register could answer that.

I do like the thumb activated horn of the standard wheel.
Curious if pushing on the edge of the center pad on the Atiwe will activate it as well?
