Default Wheel Offsets

Anyone know if the 7x17 and 9x17 cup wheels from the 993 fit the 968? These would be the Porsche version, not an aftermarket. I think the offsets are 52 and 55 or reversed, I can't remember. Thanks for your help.

here is a chart with the offsets and such for a lot of porsche wheels - the ones you are talking about may be on it

Won't be a problem at all. The factory 968 17 inch wheels carry a 65mm offset in the front with a 7.5 inch width wheel.
You will be fine.

The wheels I have now are the OEM 16" Cup I (I think) and I want to replace them with the Cup II (993 style) seems both wheels have an offset more or less of 55, but the wheel I have is 8" in rear whereas the 993 wheel is 9", will that make a difference, or should that be ok? The front widths of 7 is the same as well as the offset, so I'm not worried about that. Thanks.

The problem with 993 wheels is that because it is tail heavy the 993 needs a narrower wheel in the front.

A 17" 968 wheel would be 7.5" in the front. The offsets you quoted are the offsets for 16" 968 wheels. The factory front 7.5" wide 17" wheel does have an offset of 65mm. I cannot find the offset for the rear 17x9" anywhere, perhaps someone can look at a wheel.

I would not put 993 wheels on my 968, the factory specified a wider wheel due to the additional weight up front. The narrower wheel will give you reduced handling compared to what the factory intended, the decrease may be so low that you will never notice.

If you want them for looks go for it, if you want them for increased handling get some that are the right size.

The rears should be 55mm. I have a friend with the proper 968 17 inch cup 2 wheels that he is looking to sell. Let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with him.
