I'm getting rid of my 16 inch cups on my 1992 968 - I found these 17 inch OEM 996 wheels for $650 - the specs are 7x17 ET 55 front and 9x17 ET 55 rear - will these fit the 968 and/or will I need spacers?
Thanks!
FYI these are the type of wheels - the ones I would be purchasing aren't scuffed up.

I had the same wheels on my S2 (currently has 18" BBS RS-GT) and currently have the same wheels on my 951, but those are changing to the new 18" Fuchs. The 996 wheels fit fine without spacers but you might want to add a 10mm to the front to fill out the fenderwell better.
Here's a picture on my S2 from about 20 years ago! This is without any spacers.
If you haven't already purchased the 996 wheels I have these 18" hollow spoke Technology wheels in 18x7.5, ET50 and 18x10.0, ET65 I'll be selling.

I have to say, once I had them on the car, while I liked them, I did not love them. And the fronts are definitely more narrow than the stock 968 wheel.
Here is a lot of info on Porsche wheels including offsets:
What was your reason for not loving them? Looks or the size difference? - Wondering if you found the front wheels being 1/2 inch more narrow than stock made a noticeable difference in driving?

I think Speedlines look the best, followed by Cup I, followed by Cup2's. JMHO.
I think the magnesium Cup 1s and hollow spoke turbo twists are pretty light. Those wheels are also $$$, though. The replica turbo twists that were on one of my cars are HEAVY and have been replaced for significantly lighter OZ wheels.
Sadly, most are not. I say most because my 18" hollow spoke Technology wheels are relatively lightweight at 20.3 and 24.2 for 18x7.5 and 18x10. The new Fuchs I just purchased are even lighter at 18.08 and 19.4 in 18x8 and 18x10. The BBS RS-GT on my S2 are 20.6 and 22.1 in 18x8 and 18x10. Years ago I had some Minilite Magnesium wheels on my 356C and they were extremely lightweight, but you just had to look at them wrong and they would start to corrode. Not exactly the best thing to have when I lived in Indiana at the time.

I purchased mine with tires on them, and you could see they were narrow as they were for a rear engine 996, not a front engine 968. Also, if you do get them, MAKE SURE they have not been dropped on the face of the wheel as it sticks out from the rim and they will get scratched, I think mine had a few scratches on the front wheels, it bugged me.
I also don't like that the spokes face forward on one side and backwards on the other side. In the end, Cup I or II wheels look so much better IMO.
I had Cup II's on my 968 which replaced the replica Cup I's on the car when I got it, but they were in bad shape. Here is my 968 with Cup II's.
