Timing Belt

According to the parts guy at Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas, Porsche Classic’s business model is if they get enough orders, they’ll place another order to the OEM supplier.
Seems like a timing belt tensioner would be high in that list, considering it pretty much renders a vehicle obsolete without it. The very idea behind Classic is to keep the cars on the road.
Right after I bought my Cab in 2007, they made a run of the NLA front splitters and I was lucky enough to snag one. IIRC, the same thing happened with the cubby lids that always break.

Drifting
Aisin = Toyota. The part looks quite similar to the unit used on the 2000-2006 KZJ95 and 120 landcruiser.
the plastic tip is on ebay if it is broken.
the crank washer is a suitable when compressing the unit.
some manufacturers recommend having the unit vertical when compressing the unit.

The shop just called. My total bill is $1127, which included doing all the belts, one pulley, (4 hours flat rate) installing a new VR and new Alt-Start harness (3 hours).
$3,000 is outrageous.

Without a pre-wired harness, I would think 5hrs @ $100/hr is about right. Flat rate for a belt R&R is 5.1hrs. That’s $400/hr and OE parts prices for a $3,000 quote.
