968 Convertible top won’t latch manually in the front
968 Convertible top won’t latch manually in the front. Even if I used 2 people to push it really hard and put the pin in the hole when I turn the tool it seems like the little circle is in front and not lining up to latch the top properly I’m guessing something is bent internally inside the top rails. Is there anyway to bend it back to securely close the convertible top from the front with a little tool. Thanks

Jason,
I would assume that one or more of the top's stays are bent. These stays are no longer available and should be handled with care.
Good luck!

Be really careful forcing anything. With the latching **** on the small peg can you see the cam action with the small roller. The latching handle is pointing to the side when latched and straight down when un-latched. You should be able to see the small roller move back and forth while holding top in your hand 10" away from the actual closing point to see movement and test. The roller rolls on a replaceable piece that bolts to upper windshield frame. The roller rolls up and then lands in a latched "lobe" it you will. These rollers etc...are all over Ebay as needed. Same latching system as the 944 S2 Cab

it is a system. one should not have to apply force.
is the stop microswitch adjusted properly? how close it the top before it triggers off at the top of the windshield?
does the header hit the top of the windshield square? are the both pins aligned with the receiving bracket? there is an adjustment at each transmission for alignment

It's easy to get the latch/rollers flipped around so they are not in the proper position. If your top is fully closing, then this is probably the problem. There is a detent ball on the peg that the tool fits on. On the left, the ball points down and the tool is moved 1/4 turn the the center of the car to loosen the top (opposite to tighten). On the right the detent ball is up and not visible. The tool is flipped and a 1/4 turn to the center of the car to loosen the top (opposite to tighten). If your top is not fully closed, then you have other issues. There should be no need to force the top fully closed.
