Well, I've been lurking here for quite a while, looking to find a reasonable 968 and join this particular club. I finally did, and was able to get everything done and the car to my house today, to begin my tender ministrations.
She's OK from far, but far from OK
I've seen the VIN for this car looked up on here, so I know that, at some point, it was in the hands of a Rennlister. I picked it (her) up today from Long Island and towed her to her new forever home. There's a lot that needs to be addressed but I hope that I can take what I've learned from my 944 S2 and apply it to getting this wonderful machine back to good. If I remember the option list, it's a black car with linen interior, and LSD. Not many other options that I can really remember. I don't know enough yet about the 968s to know if they all had a LSD but I'm glad to see that it's on this car.
Anyway, this will be a slow, slow rebuild and I'll share as much as I can on here. I have other cars which are also on the project spectrum, though none quite so far advanced as this one. I'm looking forward to the journey.
Good luck with your new coupe. LSD is not standard and a nice find as desirable. Looks like your no stranger to transaxle cars either.... Its a good day to bring home a 968 on a trailer!
Well done. If you can find your way round the 944S2 then you're virtually there. The Cup 2 17" wheels a later addition/option. LSD was an M220 option and never standard, so lucky there - wonder if it was added later (e.g. Quaife or similar). Check the sticker for all the option codes. Main thing is to enjoy it and get plenty of miles in the pocket..!
Looks great - congratulations. You are in a great location too for a 968 - about 3 hours from me.
As you get going, share more about he car. How did you find her? year, mileage purchase etc.
Looking forward to seeing more of your journey. there are some real experts on this site, so all your questions are just an evening away.
