New wheel bearings stopped track steering
Not sure if I am using the correct terminology but I made a 70 mile drive to the airport in Little Rock today. There is a lot (30+ miles) of construction zone where the road is being widened and at many points the curves are different now than the original road leaving wide grooves and edges that the 235/40/18s on the front loved to follow before the new wheel bearings. This time with the new wheel bearings the car tracked straight ahead regardless of the curve of the road underneath the tires.

That is great news for me. I car tends to track a bit and I want to get rid of it. I am looking forward to doing the bearings and tightening it all up. When done, I am not tinkering with my car for a while and plan to just enjoy it.

The word I think you are looking for is "tramlining", and its a joy to drive a 944 when they don't do that. My '84 was terribly frustrating to drive until I changed out my tie rod ends, and was a totally different car afterwards.
I am due for some service work on the front wheel bearings on my 968, and I've been putting it off for a while. Reading all your posts has been an inspiration, Bruce!

Guys, except for the tools required brass punch and bearing tool the front wheel bearings are one of the easiest parts I have replaced. Thanks for the kind words. I too plan to stop tinkering soon.
