Default cam removal

so im pulling a 4v motor apart and would like to know if there is a clever way to pull the cams and tensioner assembly in a unit....the variocam unit looks like it should have a "do not open, no user serviceable parts inside" warning on it...

at any rate...before i pull the cheeseheads and the cams, any advice?

Look at my response in the non-turbo section.

Mumzer, you can pull it all in one unit. Just make sure you have some sort of scribe marks in case something comes lose. Even in its standard position, there is still tension on the cam chain. So both cams and the chain with tensioner in it can be pulled as a complete unit.
