I read above about magnets in the drain plug. It was my understanding that 968s came without the magnet and had hollow drain plugs, the magnet drain plugs were only found on 944s. Is this wrong? Both of mine had no magnet, and each one I've worked on also lacked the magnet.

I bought some magnet drain plugs from a porsche wrecker and I use them in my cars.

The crush washer should be replaced every time - it's a one-time-use gasket. You can get them from any online supplier or general online auto parts store. You might even get one from a local lube shop or mechanic shop if you ask nicely.
