dyno day in NJ

dyno day in NJ
I've contacted two different speed shops in NJ, one in Rockaway, the other near Englishtown, to check on whether they could host a Saturday dyno day in early spring. Once I hear back from them I'll post info re:type of dyno, how much, how many pulls, etc.
Start thinking about Saturday's late in March, I figure we could do up to six or seven cars. Two pulls for around $70-80 seems to be the going rate, btw, maybe we can better with more people. Or maybe they'll charge more for a Sat!!

Damian, sounds like a great idea and also gives me the incentive to get the car completed before that. Hopefully I can make it.
How about sometime in mid april? would that work? As long as its before hershey it should be okay.
In either case, whatever you guys decide on, let me know and I will atleast join you guys.

Hahaha, well I only want to setup one when I know I can make it.
For some reason, I always miss out on dyno days. There is little incentive for me to setup a dynoday when I have no clue when my car will be completed. This way if YOU set one up, I have a bogey to shoot for .
This time I need it very much so just for tuning. Heck, I might be the one doing the most pulls, as much as 8-10 pulls.
Chris warned me not to get on it hard until I tune it or I will blow things up, so tuning is crucial for this new setup. Don't want to see the turbo RS motor blow up in smoke.

Is there any reason I should dyno my stock car? I don't really see why I would need to know how many ponies my car is making. Is there any tuning they do to make the car run better? Just want to know so I can decide if this would be helpful to me.
Thanks Guys

Jason, me too! That's why I'm picking a place with a Dynojet.
Ken, it'll help in at least two ways. One, if we get a couple of regular cars, and yours is down on power, it may indicate you have clogged injectors or other issues. Two, it's a baseline for any mods you may do in the future. Three, it's fun to attend one of these!

I agree with Damian. It would be nice to see what health your car is in. You can have bad a/f ratio's and not be aware of it, could be as little as O2 sensor or leaky/clogged injector.
I think injectors should be a service item every 80-100K depending on what gas you use.
Also, you might want to try a cold air intake system or two, chips? Its like getting a physical done to see everything checks out and like stated a lot of fun as well.
I just hope the place we pick has all the neccessary info to be able to run our cars. It might help to talk to Trevor to find out what values he used when he had his car dynoed.

One of the two places I'm talking to offers on site injector cleaning-don't know if they could do it while we wait, however. It would be nice to have a spare set of cleaned injectors to swap out, although I don't think this would be an issue for my car with low miles.

I may be interested if you do the Rockaway site.
Do you guys allow V8's
Most places will give a discount if you have 10 people. Usually $75 for 3 pulls. Takes an average of 1/2 per car. Get enough people and just rent the place for the day a cheaper rate.
Make sure they include an A/F hookup.

www.brucesspeed.com is the place in Rockaway, watch this space-as we get closer to March/April I start polling people for site preference/date and other details.

Once the date gets closer, I will be able to confirm if I will be able to make it, but...... As for a site I am bias to the Englishtown location because it can't be more than 10 minutes from my house. No matter the site though I will be able to confirm a little later. Put me down for a maybe.
