Default Looking for guidance on tire sizes and offsets

968er's...

I currently have 18 Speedlines on my 968. Details:

Front
18x8 ET 52
235/40-18 tires

Rear
18x10 ET 61
265/35-18 tires

Have a set of Techart wheels and I'm looking for guidance on the right size tires and whether or not I should look into spacers:

Front
18x8 ET 42

Rear
18x9.5 ET 43

1) Should I go with the same size tires as I have on the Speedlines,or should I consider another size?
2) Should I consider spacers for front and/or rear, and if so, what size(s)?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm offering info because I occasionally run that same wheel (Turbo 3.6 Speedlines). Obviously you have no issue with the fronts other than the fact that the 42 offset will place the tire 10mm closer to the fender arch. So I doubt you will see the need for a spacer there, but the camber should be examined and adjusting in some negative may be beneficial.

Every tire manufacturer states the range of wheel widths for a specific size tire so please look into that, but I see no issue with the 265 on the 9.5 wheel. There are those who run the 285 on a 10' wheel so I suspect the 265 on a 9.5" wheel will be fine. I have yet to do the tire/wheel calculator math (and I suggest that you do) b/c while you are reducing the wheel width 1/2", you are shoving the tire/wheel outward 18mm (over 11/16 inch). All may be safe (again with some negative camber) but find a tire/wheel calculator and do the math. I hope this helps

Yep, a spacer would make the situation worse since they move the wheel even further out towards the outer fender. I'd pick 225fr/255r tires. Also be aware that some brands of tires run wider than others. R rated tires run really wide. My favorite all around tire is the Michelin PSS. It's being replaced by the PSS4, I'd assume they will be even better.

Thanks Gentlemen...

Decided to not stay with 18" wheels - going back to stock 17" Cup IIs.

Smart man! And I see you made this decision before my rant against large (by which I meant >17") diameter wheels in my thread about the estimated value of Twists, so I can't take any credit for influencing your decision...

Why are 16 inch wheels not so desirable? Is it the lack of "good rubber"?

Kind of hoping for some pneumatic suspension...
