Default stereo stolen/ replacement?

My Alpine cd player/receiver was liberated from my car while it was in the shop. The dealer is offering to replace it (obviously) and wants to know if I want a Blaupunkt, Infinity, Pioneer or another Alpine. Not knowing squat about car stereos, I am seeking advice. Thanks in advance.

BTW, the one that was stolen was a single disk Alpine (detachable face, nothing too fancy) and was at least 3 years old.

Im sorry to hear about your cd player being stolen, but look at the bright side you get a brand new up to date one for free. I have a clarion in mine and have zero complaints about it. Infinity does not make cd players but makes excellent door replacement speakers. The other brands mentioned are all pretty good. I think you will be satisfied with either of them. I would say just head out to a local audio shop and see what one catches your eye the most. Tate

Somewhat related question - I have a 92 968 with the CR-1 cassette with remote CD changer. The cassette player was manufactured by Alpine. I am trying to determine the Alpine model number and have called Alpine Tech support. They referred me to Porsche tech support, and I am still waiting for a call back. Any suggestions? The reason why I need it, is I am updating the Fubu antenna booster and if I can get the original Alpine model number, my contact with Fubu can get me the appropriate booster, which is updated.

Thanks for the help.

Bill,

A quick Google search yielded these results.

S600, S601, S611, S620, S630 (S604, S614, and S634 Require Alpine Part # KCA-130B)

Hope that helps.
