Default Would you

drive your Turbo 1200 miles over the weekend?

I have a strong and bad desire to take a 1400 round trip from KY > MD > KY tomorrow for a weekend but afraid of something unfortunate happening to the car.

Heck I don't mind driving but I can't get an agreed value greater than $65,000 and for that price I can't even buy a ****ty 964 Turbo?

What do you all think?

If I'm driving 1400 miles in a weekend, I'm looking for maximum comfort. Based on that alone, my Turbo would stay in the garage...

To start I would change insurance companies. To answer your question...nothing wrong with a 1400 mile trip if all is well with your car but as Metal Guru pointed out comfort(as well as practicality) is something to take into consideration.

I want to make this trip 'coz that's the only way I can and I have always relaxed (driving the Turbo)

I have taken several long trips in this car and have never once felt un-comfortable.

The handling/control/accelration and the exhaust rumble is all I want to hear.

Anyways, work/family has been very stressful lately so I want to

Went to Riverside from Scottsdale to look at a Car, 350 miles, booked a room & left late, decided to take my Modded 92 C2 Turbo at last minute, got there in 4 hrs, bought car in 5min, drove right back in another 4 hrs, Had a Blast, Valentine Radar was a Big Help, Car has 135k miles, Almost everything Bolt on you can do, No worries.
Guys at car wash had to work to get the bugs off, Gonna do a post on build soon, but we're doing a few more Dyno runs, Brian at Rarely8 is helping me get just a little more Fuel.

My Insurance lady just called back with Hagerty quote...Are you all sitting down...

$1980/year for $80,000 ....and you know what..... Hagerty can xxxk my.... you know what... xxxk

I plan on calling them myself but since they have my vin # now, I don't think it's going to make any difference.

Seing as to how much it would cost to replace one of these I am indeed very apprehnsive driving this car on interstate now

I exercise the car about once a month now....early on a Sunday morning before the nut jobs come out. I have an agreed value with Hagerty.....I have found their customer service to be excellent. It's not cheap to insure the car, however, as values go up so do the premiums.

C2,
I don't feel so bad now. I thought I was getting raped by Grundy at 3,900.00 for 300k value.
I guess it's something we are all going to have to deal with as the cars appreciate.

I'm still trying to work something out with State Farm, however it's not looking good.
Till then car sits in garage.

Take a memorable trip: drive, experience, and enjoy what your car provides.

That is a ridiculous rate IMHO -- I wonder if you can get a better rate from your primary home/(multiple) car carrier, etc...
As far as driving your car vs. worries...again...IMHO...drive the darn car, life is too short and very very unpredictable...just enjoy it...

Trying to get a quote from American Collectors insurance, are they any good?

Took the car out for a 70 mile shake down run today and man what a drive it was. The car runs so strong & smooth with a nice deceleration burble

Still debating if I have enough time to take a 1400 mile trip.

You took your car to a car wash? Hope it was a hand wash place. An automatic wash will micro-scratch your paint and remove every bit of wax.

When I get home from a long trip, the very first think I do, no matter how late it is, is wash the bugs off the front of my car immediately, while they are still soft. This saves a lot of heartache the next day. This is my daily driver I'm talking about too. I run the d/d's thru the auto wash but not my baby

As for my Turbo, it gets an immediate, complete, baffled bucket hand wash by me. Since I have 3M film on the nose and hood, I have to be extra careful not to scratch it. Film is good against rock damage but it's an absolute pain in the *** to care for. I couldn't imagine having the entire car wrapped like some ****-retentive types do.
