This article is a good read and why I'm leaning towards the Motul X-Cess 5W40.

Things of note:
1. Reformulations: Seems to happen a lot, so a "good" oil 5 years ago might not be the same today.
2. Shorter service intervals: 6 months or 5000 miles recommended (with 10 qt fill).
3. Not being on the A-40 Approved List is not a deal breaker.
