Wow, maybe I should just save my $700 monthly payment and put it in an S&P 500 fund...always wanted a Porsche Turbo, but this is a PIA. Does anyone know of any good 964 Turbos out there for sale?

Just to clarify - I'm saying run away from the tires - not the car. The car I recently bought is not perfect - but its perfect for me. Just figure out what is most important in terms of what you are looking for in a car and buy one. Be happy. Some guys want the lowest mileage. Some want best looking. Some want most pwerful. Some want a driver.
Good luck and enjoy

Brandon,
Thanks dude, I probably would've bought the Hankooks if you didn't say that. Anyways, I still might buy this car, but it'd have to come back pretty clean from the PPI (with the exception of what we've talked about).

Has anyone used the Hankook Ventus V12s
if they squirm put more air in
one slight drawback ...they do not make noise at the limit of adhesion like the old yoko
A0008Rś used to or used to not do

Curious Black Hat - what PSI do you run? Manual says, IIRC, 36 front, 44 rear for 18" wheels. I've increased a little from there but that's already pretty high IMO....
Thanks

I have 17 " wheels and run high 38+ in front and 40+ in back
I will admit the sidwalls are a little softer than the pilots that came off but I just keep it smooth (wieght shift)
Iḿ on my 3rd set (rear) and I don notice it any more plus the road hazzard from discount tire is great I have ruined 3 tires (2 pot holes one sparkplug) and they replace for 15$
my car is slammed with a 3 inch drop and pretty stiff

Nope, no PPI results yet (makes me wonder why I couldn't cancel it the other day - hmm). Anyways, I talked to a guy who went and saw the 3 x 964 Turbos at Abreu Motors ('91, '92 and 3.6L) this past week. In person, he said the '91 is at best a $28,000 car. He said the pictures on the website aren't representative of the actual shape of the car. Needs new reflector/tail light assemblies, interior is in awful shape and the car had white smoke upon starting cold (for about 3 minutes). Considering the mileage, I'm guessing there will be a lot of "while I'm there" work if I were to take this as a project (which $39k doesn't seem like project money anyways). So, it's not looking good. Still considering getting the PPI done and trying get a decent deal, but it got a $31k bid on eBay last week, so I'm sure they want more than that. Thoughts???

That's usually the case with pics. As **** as I am, I will never buy a car without ever seeing with my own eyes. White smoke....condensation? I'd use the PPI results to negotiate it down a few more buckaroos.

PPI Results (es sieht nicht so gut...):
Work needed:
1. Seals needed: transmission case / crankshaft seal / timing chain (not sure if housing or cover gasket)
2. Shift bushings worn
3. Steering rack boots cracked
4. Seats are a mess
5. Left Rear Shock is leaking
5.1. Rear tires are bald
6. Passenger window switch
7. Needs new tail lights / center reflector
8. Needs conversion to R134 (or R12 recharge - anyone got any?!)
9. Recall was still open. Not caught in 20 years?!? WTF?
Goods:
1. Original paint (cannot test bumper though)
2. Doesn't show any signs of accident damage (said side markers look identical in person, smile distortion was minor - possibly from sitting in sun - if the bumper was replaced, it was a quality job)
3. Drives nicely (except shifting, due to shifter bushings)
4. Clutch feels good (replacement might be why trans case is leaking)
5. A project that will result in a nice car after work is complete
Estimate:
1. Seals/bushings/boots/window switch (work done at dealer, parts are minimal): $3000-8000 (depends on what else is wrong). I might do this all myself for approx $300 in parts plus special tools required.
2. Seat covers: $1295 (parts only)
3. Shocks/Tires: $1200
4. Tail lights/reflector: $800 (parts only)
5. R134 conversion: couldn't find a decent kit, anyone have recommendations?
I don't mind doing the work myself (I'd like to get to know the car better anyways). My only concern is the crankshaft seal (is he referring to the front main seal???). I think I could knock out the rest (or it'd be fairly reasonable for professional help - e.g. mounting tires).
Well, my initial thought is to come back at $32,000 max. I have no problem walking away. What would y'all do? Thanks!

That's a tough one to answer - the age old queston - buy "cheap and fix" or spend more upfront for better condition etc....
I wouldn't rush your decision - sleep on it.
