Default Clutch Pedal went south ?

Driving my 964 Turbo today, while standing at the traffic light, when I went to engage the clutch, I couldn't find the dang thing

Well, my first thought was may be it got stuck. Pulled it out and drove few miles to the office and it was fine.

Few hours later, coming home and middle of the traffic, the pedal once again went south. The funny thing is, I can pull it out and it works fine but once fully engaged, it some times comes back and some times stays on the floor.

Little back ground:

Few months ago I had the car towed to this Porsche Indy shop where it had leaked some Pentison (blue fluid) on the driver side front. The ABS light was on too.

The shop changed the ABS pressure switch and bled the entire system which my understanding is included the clutch too.

Could this be the Clutch Slave Cylinder/accumaltor and could this be related to the brake service/bleeding of the system?

Please advice?

I'd say it's the slave cylinder. It has a return spring in it that goes bad. Mine wasn't as bad as yours but it still wouldn't return the pedal all the way. Replacing it did the trick.

I can't see a part number for that spring - is there one? Or must I find a similar part?

It's in the slave cylinder.

No, you'll have to buy a new slave cylinder. They do seem to go bad within 70-80k miles but they aren't real expensive (by Porsche 964 standards).

Very easy to replace, too BTDT. I did mine last spring and no dealers (local + Sunset) had any - price was going to be $400 shipped for a genuine *** (OE) part. I found one on ebay (***) for $185. I believe there are cheaper OEM pieces available. Pelican lists it for $110 last I recall but I don't think it was OE...and they were out of stock at the time anyway.

Especially if you have two elbows in your arm
Buy a new rubber hose for it too. They tend to go bad.

The hose may look fine...but I and others have seen dark colored brake fluid when bleeding the slave cylinder. This indicates that the rubber is breaking down. If you've seen this you might consider replacing the line.
