What is this thing in the left exhaust ?
What does it do ?
Can I remove it ?

The left tailpipe is the vent from the turbo wategate (at least it was on my 3.6 turbo). There are some flame arrestors built into the tailpipe. I think that is what you are seeing there. If you can take it out, I don't think it would hurt anything.
