Post TT wheels on a 965 ?

Hi Guys,
Has any body Tried 993TT Wheels on a C2 Turbo? I have eyeballed it on my car , It seems close as the offset brings the rears out a little more than the Speedlines. I plan to to use on track . Someone told me that turbo twists worked fine with 265/35/18s .But he wasn't sure if they were really TT wheels.

Since there are many different part numbers for wheels, specifically what are the part numbers fitted and what are the offsets?

S-

IF the wheels above are OEM Factory 993TT Hollow Wheels I believe its:

8" x 18" - ET52 = 9050 grams / 19.95 lb.
993.362.136.00 - ET52 - 19.95 lb (front)

10" x 18" - ET40 = 11400 grams / 25.13 lb.
993.362.140.00 - ET40 - 25.13 lb (wide body rear)

Eric,

Your post is exactly why I posted: .... If...

Oscar and Ian have "turbo twist" wheels on their cars. I'd like them or anyone else who has them fitted to confirm exactly what they have. Then there is no confusion.

As we all know, when it comes to wheel fitment on our cars, real life experiences are what counts.

Don't get me wrong, I had the information that you sent already and believe it is likely what they have fitted. However, I have not come across anyone with a c2t that has confirmed exactly what they have. I'm looking for "horse's mouth" confirmation before I consider the outlay on something like this.

Steve,

I tried on both the widebody 993 Turbo wheels and the narrow body 18" 993 wheels. The widebody wheels stuck out too far in the rear for my preference. You could probably make those work if you run lots of negative camber. I decided on the narrow body wheels which sit further in in the rear and look correct with where the fronts are.

The widebody wheels had an offset of +40mm, the narrow body wheels had an offset of +65mm so they sit further in by 25mm, just enough to make it look right. You can get the narrow body wheels in hollow spoke as well btw. I believe Porsche used a +61mm wheel in the rear for the 3.6 Turbo so the +65mm is pretty close, only 4mm further in.

You can see pics in my sig that show the wheel from the side, etc. I think you will be pleased with this choice. I am going to keep these for street use and probably buy some Cargraphic wheels for track use.

Ah, fc-racer,

What you say is true about the offset for the 3.6 wheels. However, my understanding from Adrian is that it is not an apples to apples comparison. The rear suspension geometry of the 3.6 differs from that of the 91-92. His book, when it is published, will elaborate.

In my case, the measurements I have done seem to bear out that something approaching 40 offset is best. Incidently, I run about 1.8 neg each side at the rear which is the most I can get out of it at my lowered height and get the optimum setting I want for rear toe in.

The concern for the 65 offset is the inside oil lines and potentially the body. As with the 40 offset on the outside, camber plays it's part.

Thanks for your real life experience. Do you happen to have saved part numbers for both the wide and narrow hollow spoke wheels? Also the non-hollow if you have them too.

TIA

Steve

Stteve ,
Ithink you are correct about the 3.6 having different rear dimmensions;however I'm not sure that it applies to US cars?.
Now I 'm still not sure if the TT hollow spokes will fit my 3.6 ,I plan on using 265/35/18's on the rears. Are the narrow body 993's also 10".?

------------------------------------

I'm of the same opinion as fc-racer that, for the 10" rears, the 40mm offset is too far out for the c2t. I think that somewhere between 50 and 65 works best for the cars based on measuring mine. I have 2.5" clearance on the inside of the rear right from the oil return line and so going with 65mm puts 1" more inside and none outside. A 7mm spacer would probably be optimal, making the offset about 58mm, that is in the middle of my range.

For the 8" front, the 52mm will be fine giving about 1/2" inside and outside. I already run 225 width tires on the front and would likely continue to do so. Therefore no rear impact here.

I'd still like more answers on what people are running for 8" and 10" offsets on these cars.
