Insurance
Hey Guys - having a PPI done today on a car - well not just any car a 964T :-) - and will hopefully need to get insurance in the next day or so.
Who do you guys recommend?
Hagerty?
Whomever you (I) have a relationship with?
My normal carrier - AmFam - who treated me very well when I had some expensive bicycles stolen (not the same but a measuring stick nonetheless) quoted me slightly less ($150/yr) than Hagerty - but its not agreed value. They suggested an appraisal at some point so there is something on file should we ever need to know the value...Any other major things to consider?
The car I'm hopefully getting is a nice driver - and I plan to drive it - really enjoy it, FWIW.
TIA for your thoughts.

Thanks, Paul.
I'm going to just use my normal carrier to drive the car back to Colorado - then in the next couple weeks look into Hagerty, Grundy, and Leland West.
My big thing is I plan to drive the car - and not just to shows. To wherever. Whenever. Probably about 4000 miles/yr. I need insurance that won't tell me when and where I can drive the car....and of course they need to take care of me should anything very bad happen....

4000 miles a year is driving it? I have put on 19,000 miles on my 964 in a year. Just saying! I hope you drive it more. You will once you take it home and find you are addicted. It is my crack.

I know what you are saying - 4000 miles/yr is not lots of miles (But I bets its way more than the average mileage/yr these cars see - maybe not from RL/Pelican guys, but overall....) - but this is my toy car - Daily is an Audi S4. Unlike my old toy (Audi ur-Quattro) this car won't see much inclement much rain or snow driving. So I guess we'll see.... :-)

Brandon,
Who did you end up with for insurance? I went with American Collectors Insurance (USAA directed me there). However, I'm not sure it's going to work for me. The policy only allows me to drive to work or a restaurant once or twice per year. It's not a daily driver, but I do want to take it wherever I'd please. Their less restrictive coverage is $1200/year. That gives 7500 miles and doesn't restrict use.
Leland West sounded perfect, but they denied me because we live on the water in Florida. Their limit was within 1 mile of the coastline, which is nearly everyone around here.
Anyways, I tried Grundy, Hagerty and Chubb as well. They all seem to have similar restrictions, but maybe I'm lost in the weeds.
Any inputs are appreciated.

Honestly I think most of the collector car insurers will have similar restrictions. I'm ok with it as I really don't want to take my car to work and I'm busy enough that I only drive my car 1500 miles a year on average.

I ended up using Geico's affiliate (American Modern Insurance Group). $630/year with very few restrictions. They had a range of $42-58k for allowable agreed values. Allows commuting twice per week. No mileage limitation.
Fred, what company do you use? All the ones I looked at were Agreed Values as well, just uber restrictive.

I still have my normal carrier - AmFam - haven't gotten around to shopping the insurance. I pay ~$1100/year and can do whatever I want with the car - which is important. Come nicer weather I'll drive it to work a fair amount...

I use Acuity for all my insurance. Not a lot of restrictions.
