Post best intercooler ?

I am thinking of upgrading the standard intercooler on my car ('92 3.3).

I find that when the car is used on track days, the performance drop-off is quite noticeable and I am confident is down to the increase in intake Air-temp.

The question is, which is the best value intercooler on the market, as there are so many companies to choose from, and they all quote they are the best available !

The car has a K27 turbo 1 bar boost, powerhaus headers, this seems like the logical next step

The stock intercooler on these cars are excellent.
Are you really sure high air-intake temperature is the problem ?

I would have somone take a look at the car before buying a new IC.

If the IC is the problem, ask the guys on the 930 board, they have lots of experience in different IC's. Most of the guys on this board is most probably running stock IC.

Good Luck

If you insist on options I would think that a ProtoTech would be the better upgrade but $$$$.

I have a C2 I/C on my car with a "biger core" (est 4.5"). Andial calls this there C2 "S" I/C.

I do not have the exearance to tell you if it realy works though.

I think P.W. offers this also and says that Porsche ordered them for there race cars.

Good luck... <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

P.S.

Have you concidered adding a fueler. 1 bar is ok on the street but above 5000 rpm your system will run about 12.5 to 1 when it should be at 11 to 1 for cooling. (based on my A/F ratios on my C2T on a dyno)

One expert (B.A.) does not recomend going above .9 bar on the track because of the "thermal reserve" on the 3.3's not being enough.

However, the C2T's have fins on the cylinders where others do not and have had the oil cooler moved out of the motor compartment so this might help.

The Andial fueler comes to mind as a good bet.

The factory unit is very good. If, however, you want the unqualified best in the world, have it built by SECAN.
