Engine cover pan on Turbos?
In respect of a similar subject on the 964 forum:
My 964 Turbo 1991 does not have the engine cover pan non 964 Turbo cars have from the factory! Did it have one when it left Porsche in 1991? If not, why did they not fit one on these fast cars to aid aerodynamic affects.

I checked the parts catalogue and I can not find any reference to an "engine capsule" for the 964 Turbo. Since my car is not stock, it's hard to say definatively, but I just don't see how it would fit with all the additional hardware of the turbo.
The truth is, the turbo is not nearly as aerodynamic as the 964 anyway. Those wider flares and big tail all contribute to drag. I guess the factory figured there was no point in trying to improve aerodynamics using an underpan around the engine - especially when faced with a bigger concern about engine cooling.

Hey guys...
C2T's did have some type of engine capsule (pan). Mine is not on the car any longer either, but the mounting hardware was. Perhaps it was a very small pan. Nevertheless I took the hardware off & have it in a little bag now. But my point is that C2T's did have some sort of engine cover. This "capsule" was mounted on there for noise issues mostly. The "flat bottom" areo effect was secondary.
I believe that with the addition of an aftermarket muffler (such as an GHL, or a B&B, or Fabspeed) that maybe the tray interferes - and then most trays are discarded.
The engine is better suited w/o one in my opinion anyhow. And ... The car is stable as a rock at Supercar high speeds even w/o it.
At least mine is.
