1994 Turbo S

1994 Turbo S
Does anyone have any information or photos of this car? I think that Porsche built about 100 of them in 1994, celebrating the win of Hurley Haywood in the IMSA Championship. Most of them came to the US. Also, slightly more HP & torque, but I don't know much else about them
At first I thought I had it confused with the 1992 Turbo S, but some research indicated to me they're two different cars.
Thanks.

Well, you may have a few facts mixed up here.
The 911 turbo built to celebrate the wins in the Supercar series was not a 1994, nor was it a 3.6 liter. It was a lightweight (418 pounds less than a street version) 3.3 liter 1992 that was bumped to 380 HP & 360 ft pounds of TQ. Down along the rocker panel was a IMSA decal reading "supercar champion."
It was Hurleys success in the 1991 series that prompted the Porsche development team to build such a car just like you noted.
3.3 lightweight click here
Now... The 1994 3.6 Turbo S was a completely different car. It could be had in "flat nose" or standard nose. See more here:
3.6 "S" click here
Also in 1992 there was a C2T "S2" that was made so Porsche could run a bit more HP to hold off the Lotus of that time. 20 or so of those were made with the help of ANDIAL.
I hope this was helpful!

Dear Ignatius,
As Michael says this is a confusing subject. Also controversial because the numbers are not clear.
In 1992 Porsche built 80 3.3L Turbo Ss.
They also built 20 3.3L Turbo S2s for the USA (homologation models) engine kits were installed by Andial.
In 1994 the "Special Werks" of Porsche built somewhere between 76 and 90 Turbo 3.6 S or Flachbau. As Michael says, some (the majority) were flat nose not slant noses and some were standard front ends. The data I have, says 58 went to the USA and the rest were sent around the world the biggest lump going to Japan. Two are known to me in Germany and one in Dubai,
Ciao,
Adrian

To be exact .. and this straight from Mr. Kapffenstein at Porsche a.g. who over saw the production of these cars .. in December 1993 the "Special Werks" of Porsche built 75 Flatnose Turbo S cars and 19 non Flatnose "package cars which were for the U.S. only. 10 flatnose cars went to Japan and 26 flatnose cars were ROW delivery. 39 flatnose cars went to the U.S. The japan cars had the 944 front end and the U.S. and ROW cars had the 968 front end.
To see who Kapffenstein is go to Michael B.'s post in this thread and click on the link for the 3.6 Turbo S. Scroll down the page and you will see Kapffenstein listed as a contact for this car. Here's his number 49-711-911-5572 if you would like to call him to get the facts directly.

Mark
