Post Yea right 490HP

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2420443819&indexURL=9&photoDisplayType=2#eba ylargephotohosting" target="_blank">C2T</a>

Is this guy joking or what. I've got all the mods he does and I'm making like 390. My boost spring is only 1.0 bar not 1.1 bar. 490HP from a car with only bolt on mods and no internal engine modications. I'm more then a little skeptical. Those rims make the car look like it belongs in the getto too.

Sorry if this is someones car

Dear Ian,
It deos say estimated which means it has never been checked and easily explained away. I very much doubt it puts out a sustainable 490 HP either but do not take this type of thing too seriously. The wheels suck as well.

People who are trying to sell cars, especially on EBay tend to have an inflated opinion of their car. I find that condition is overstated and in this case specs. Market value is the most over estimated item I see on Ebay. People tend to think their cars are worth thousands more then the bids they get.

That guy is up to 41-42k, Thats pretty good I think considering that car looks like crap with the tinted windows and the crome rims.

What is the RWHP limit on these cars? Does this car have the same potential as the 993TT or a 996TT?

The above question refers to a 1994 3.6L turbo.

Could be at the flywheel. Using a 15% drivetrain loss, 490 would be 419 at the rear wheels. Going from 2.1 to 2 bar (1 bar of boost) would take down to near 396 rwhp.

Still, I wound not think this could happen w/o porting and cams.

And ya, the wheels are ug!

Blitz951, I don't think so. First of all these engines are only 3.3, the 993 and 996 are 3.6.

Also these engines use mechanical fuel injection and from what i've herd 400hp is about the most you can get without switching to EFI.

Not that they still arn't a blast to drive at around 400hp. I had mine out today and I was trying to make a yellow light, so I gave it to her in 1st and went around the corner, the rear end broke free and I was throttel steering down the road for like 100 feet

He is overexaggerating the power output, but I for one like the wheels.....nothing wrong with some 18" OZs, it's nice to see a refreshing look instead of the same old boring 18"s techs, Kinesis and Fikse.

Come on now, don't be so harsh on the rims, sure I don't like chrome rims, but I just picked up a set of those in the more subdued Silver finish and look forward to seeing how they fill up the wheel wells. Much better than the stock C2 3.3 Turbo wheels wich are tucked in far to much for my tastes....

But thats just me.

Reserve not met at 41,205.00

That seems like a good price to me, I don't think he is going to get more then that.

That car just looks off to me with the tinted windows and the wheels.

Ian: The design of the wheels are ok but, chome? Come on. If it was silver then it would look ok but it looks like all it needs is one of those suspensions that go up and down and some gang bangers with machine guns in the back seats.

$41K is more than that car is worth.

The 400rwhp limit is with a margin of safety built in. I don't doubt one could get to 420 (490 at crank), but the question is for how long.

Running a 1.1 bar boost is reason alone to run from this car.

The CIS Euro fueling is good upto 470-480 FWHP at the max.
No comments on the car.

As for reliability, my 89 3.3 turbo converted to EFI ran for 5 years with a documented 521fwhp and was tracked quite heavily, all with stock internals (ported heads, 964 cams not included). Pistons & cylinders measured well within spec when I dissassembled it after about 15k miles, valve guides were good on the intake, but marginal on the exhaust. My new 3.4l engine has a documented 641hp@1bar (modified internals)and is such a joy to drive, now with 6 track days on the car. I expect it to be as reliable as my previous engine.
