92 C2 Turbo Hard Starting
OK...I replaced the Clutch and Flywheel on my car with a nice light weight setup and also added GHL Headers and Tiel Wastegate. I removed the air injection as well. I am puzzled by the fact that when I go to start it it fires right up and then dies 3 seconds later......any thoughts??

Check to make sure the intercooler is in place with no air leaks, and recheck all the hoses on the turbo and wastegate. Sounds to me like its sucking air someplace, and the back of the intercooler connects right on the throttle body. Mine came loose and it did the exact same thing yours is doing, and then it just would not start at all.

If the IC has been removed, make sure the electric wires was connected the right way, if not it might cut the fuel as soon as you start the car.
The wires I am talking about is the ones on the back left side of the IC.

I had a question for you about this air leak. I pulled off the IC and checked the IC to Turbo hose and made sure it was tight and also the hose that goes from the fuel distributor to the turbo and make sure they were also tight. I re-fitted the IC and connected the the smaller hoses to the IC as well and make sure they were tight. BUT as soon as I place the 3 bolts that hold the IC to the mounts I have the same problem I fires right up and dies. I thought this was strange, so I removed the 3 mounting bolts that hold the IC down and pushed the IC down over the throttle body and tried to start it again and this time it started and stayed runnig....weird, so I now left the engine running and tried to add the 3 bolts to hold the IC the car (move the IC very slightly to align the holes for the mount the motor dies). I believe this is happening at the throttle body because I can move the IC with the car running to see when it dies and the only connection that appears to move is where it goes over the throttle body. What do you think I'm missing? Do I need to use a sealer around the throttle body? I'm completely puzzeled.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Mr Bitterman,
I read somewhere that the best way to place the intercooler is with 2 persons: one to push it down, and one to tighten the screws. (to prevent leaks)
Did you need to do this ?
And HOW did you reach the bolt to tighten the hose on the turbo ? This is an impossible place to work !
And....HOW DOES IT DRIVE NOW ??

I had my brother over and help holding the IC down while the bolts were tightend, so now thats all good and the car is now runnig like a charm.
The hose on the turbo takes a bit of work to get to but I used a 1/4" drive universal and a long 15" extension with a 6mm socket on the end. The hose clamp is much eaiser to get to if you reverse its position so that the screw is running parallel with the rear bumper it's a straight shot the the above wrench.

My car started it all over again after a very high speed run. Stephan at ImagineAuto said to use two people, one pushing on the back of IC to make sure its set, and another to tighten the right side first (by the AC in my 94T), and then to the left side, all while keeping the pressure on the IC to hold it in place. The IC unit I upgraded to is much deeper than the stock 3.6 T IC, so I guess I brought in on myself.
