Default Turbo 3.6 rear deck lid badge - Satin Silver

Doing some spring cleaning and found I had a brand new Turbo 3.6 badge in Satin Silver. This is a NEW badge produced in 1993 . I believe that the only badges they make now are chrome so that would make this pretty rare (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this).

If any one is interested I would sell it for $125 shipped CONUS.

Mine looked like that until I peeled the paper back, then I saw it is actually "chrome". Are you sure it's satin?

Well that's an interesting question and could make for an interesting if not esoteric thread on emblem colors. I have not opened the packaging but I do not believe that it is chrome (which is much more mirror like - see links below). I do know that for 1992/1994/1996-7 Turbo S there were different color emblems depending upon body color (emblem colors include black, titanium, satin silver-grey, red, chrome). For example black metallic cars (e.g. my car) had a titanium color emblem. I know for Turbo S you could only order the correct color by VIN - there was no sub-number for color attached to the emblem. This may also have been true for the 3.6 Turbo - all part numbers appear to be the same 965-559-221-00.

The camera flash may make the image look a bit reflective but I do not believe that the emblem I have is chrome. For a comp - this for sure is chrome http://www.clautomobile.de/popup_ima...a0772af1abe5cf

Have a look at these the links below off of ebay for comparison of the two finishes.

Satin Silver/Grey

Chrome

Any other insights welcome ...

There is only one part number for the 3.6 turbo rear lid badge = 965 559 221 00 and that is a chrome finish , there are no other options on the Porsche PET for the 3.6 Turbo badge .

Paul B is correct , peel the plastic off and it will be chrome for that part number shown

As un-chrome like as this badge looks - I certainly know better than to argue against the collective wisdom here on Rennlist. So if anyone is ever in need of an original dated Turbo 3.6 badge they know where to find me.

I have a '91 3.3 965 with a transplanted '94 3.6T engine it it: perhaps I could rearrange the script to say "3.6 Turbo" in lieu of "Turbo 3.6".

and then there are the country specific part numbers that you won't find in any version of PET or the "New and dropped parts" list (but you will occasionally find them in the price lists) that begin with the importer country designation (ex. PNA-559-037-03)

One thing I've learned over and over again (and I have PETs going back to 98 or so) is that you can't rely on the parts catalog to tell you that something doesn't exist, only that it does exist.
