Need Help, Stmuped by problem when on Boost in my 1992 3.3T
All, I need your help. I have checked and rechecked everything I can think of, even replaced the injectors, and had the main ground on the engine redone.
When on full boost runs in 2nd and 3rd gear, it feels like the overboost switch is being activiated at about 5500 rpm. There is an immediate loss of power for just a second but if you get back on it in the same gear the same loss of power occurs.
Otherwise the car runs great.
What I have done is verify the wastegate is opening (Tial with a .7 bar spring), disconnected the white wire to the overboost switch and made a jumper that is solidly grounded.
Any help or advise would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Bill

I changed the fuel filter in December when I did the plugs as well.
It also appears to slightly cut out when I hit a bump, so I that is convincing me it is electrical.

My car had an electrical problem caused by bumps. Turned out I had a bad earth in the rear relay tray. I think the whole tray was losing it's earth momentarily. The tachometer flickered when it happened. The mechanic fixed it by fitting an earth cable from the tray to the body.

Thanks for the input John. I was driving it home last night and it really started hesitating when I hit bumps. The fuel level was low so I stopped and filled it up and looked at the relays in the reatr relay tray and pushed them all down to make sure none were lose. It ran perfectly after that. Would rev all the way to the redline while on boost, and didn't hesitate at all.
So now I need to figure out if it is because i was below a quarter tank of gas lately and it has been doing it, or if I did have a loose relay.

I had a similar problem and solved it by replacing the ignition 'coil' on the fan mounting and the ignition pickup lead on the flywheel. Suggest one at at a time and start with ignition pickup lead.

Ralt, my car has been twin plugged and is running an Electromotive XDI system, so i don't have those parts anymore.
I did find a loose wire that went to one of the back relays. When I unplug the wire it kills the engine exactly like the overboost. Once I receonnected and resecured it, it has been running fine. I'm not sure if it the low fuel or not as I still have 3/4's of a tank. I plan on driving it to work a few times this week to use up the gas.
