Ahhhh, right, that would explain why it has been for sale for 2 years! See if you can dig out the pic.

Does any one have an idea or servicing costs in NZ? Specifically the valve adjustments at 15K miles? Having run HSV Holdens and jap performance cars for years I don't have any idea what to expect. Is it realistic to use a 965 everyday?

Ring Gilltrap Prestige, they are the main serving agents in Akl.
Ring Archibalds if down south.

965 can be used on a daily basis, but you`ll want to get it on the open road to get it out of second at least, otherwise its not fun.

Where do you live?

Value adjustments are 993 service items aren`t they?

I've seen that picture too. It's in the archives. AFAIK, this car has been discussed before. Run Forrest, RUN!

Cool, thanks guys.

I'm in Auckland so will pop into Giltraps and have a chat with them. Are any of the independent porsche specialists any good in Auckland?

I think I read on this forum the 996's need the valves adjusted every 15k miles and the engine had to be dropped to do it. I could be getting confused though!

I use the independent, Motorscience, behind Giltraps. Contis are also good.

I used to use my car as a semi DD along the Kohi to CBD route. Biggest issue was the clutch in slow traffic. Nothing bad just noticeable after a long period stuck in traffic. Servicing periods are 20,000 Km. Not much change out of $1,500 for my last one.

Overall very solid cars, just getting old and needing odd things replaced, nothing major.

20,000km is quite a big service interval so would work out similar to my HSV over the year. Do you do an oil change in between services? Turbo cars I have had in the past had an oil and filter change every 5000km.

A picture says a thousand words. The amount of times I've had to tell this story. Still a lovely looking 911.

The crashed 3.6 is a midnight blue one that happened on the north shore at barrys point road.

The car was sold at auction about three years ago for a silly price, those in the know pulled out at $50 kiwi. It has been on again off again for sale on trade me in nelson for the last year.

I have been and viewed the car down there and it is the same car, owen evan put a new roof on as part of the insurance claim and the interior colour has been changed.

The black RUF is a real one, when it was new.

It has had a big hit, the first owner was Richard Giltrap and i spoke to him when it first came on the market about a year ago.

The price is too high for a re-shelled car.

The reality is very very few turbos cover enough mileage to make 20,000 km a reasonable service interval as it could be 4 to 5 years at least to cover that.

Thats a very good effort getting under an Armco!

There's a Singapore import on TM at the moment too http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=332413864

I've heard Singapore imports have issues with wiring due to humidity over there. Any one know if theres any truth to that?
