Default FS: Tachometer with OBC

I have a tachometer which i purchased from Germany, unfortunately it was somewhat mis-represented. I was after a tacho with the OBC in kilometers for my NA 964 and what i got was this turbo one in miles.

It is in very good condition, no peeling backing or marked glass etc. It is fully functional.
Part No: 965 641 323 00

Price: US$450.00 (Includes shipping anywhere in the world)

Cheers,
Nick

Nick,

Did your research show a difference between Part No: 965 641 323 00 and Part No: 965 641 323 01? -00 is listed as '92 and -01 as '93 GB.

I have the '93 model. I want to send my peeling original off for modification but have an original spare as well.

Cheers
John

Hi John,

It is definately -92 Turbo (GB).
As far as i know there is no difference between the 00 and 01 part.
Hopefully someone can chime in with a definitive answer.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,

993 MAN posted a few years ago that his Turbo 3.6 had the normal tacho and he wanted a turbo one. Not sure if he sorted it out, but I think the car is now owned by turbo 3.6 in Hawkes Bay.

Maybe you could PM him and do a swap? If not, and you're still looking to sell in early Dec, I'll be getting my car out of storage and can see whether this works the same as a '93 Turbo model.

Cheers
John

Hi John,

The tacho is 100% compatible with your '93.

Cheers,
Nick

Looks almost identical except the readout is in miles [gather that is switchable] and the redline is set 250 rpm higher in the older gauge. If you still have it in early Dec I'd like a chance to see it, but right now I can't commit.

The units are either in imperial OR metric. You can't change them from one to the other unfortunately.

No matter what I do I need to open mine up to see what has caused the paint to flake. I'll see whether there is a switch inside. It looks the screen is the same e.g. Miles and km/hr in different spots. I can't believe they did a complicated engineering feat for what was a few hundred cars at most.

I didn't even think to look when I opened mine up to diagnose a non-functioning needle. I went the expensive route and bought a metric tach from France.

There is no "switch" to change from miles to kms. Opened one up and been there done that. The difference between OBC tachos (miles/km) is in the small preprogrammed chip soldered on to the PCB.
For the turbo its another chip with a different input from the boost sensor.
Thats about all i know as far as being electronically educated.

Cheers,
Nick

Reality sets in here. Your best shot is a GB 964 Turbo owner or 964 owner looking to add an OBC. Don't suppose you have a pic of the innards to identify the chip?

BTW has a date been set for the club Christmas party? I may fly in early enough to attend this year.

The Tacho has been sold and is winging it's way to the new owner.

John, i may just pull my old one apart if i get a suitable replacement. If you are referring to PCNZ functions/outings i can't help you there as i haven't been a member for about 2 years. I suggest you check the website.

My 964 "enthusiast" group is having a run this Sunday from Auckland to Mangawhai.........usually a heap of fun!

Cheers,
Nick

Please post the pics when/if you open it up.

Not as to join your run as I'm in Jakarta. I did look at the club site but no mention of a Christmas party. Just thought it would be an easy say to catch up with the old crew.

Good luck with the next tacho.
