Default Tyres of Choice for 964 Turbo

Guys I need some advice.

What tyres do people recommend for normal road use (based in London, UK)?

Tyres to go on Speedlines 8x18, 10x18

Currently got Bridgestone SO 3ZR 225.40.18 (front), 265.35.18 (rears).

Sorry if its been discussed a million times before.

Thanks

I really know nothing about tyres, but wasnt sure if 295`s were too wide?

Any particular brand and model?

Michelin Pilots are great tyres. I have the Cups on my car, but thats not necessary for daily driving.

They fit or I wouldn't recommend them.
Brand depends on budget.

hi,

i would stay with 225/40 and 265/35.

Michelin Pilot is the choice for occasional trackdays and if you want to get excellent handling and outstanding grip. but no good advice on wet roads.

for normal road use go for Continental Sport Contact 2 or 3 with "N2" index. no particular strength, no weakness, but a pretty good allrounder.

Thanks guys.

Have heard good things about conti 3`s, but also noticed a lot of people in the uk seem to use Pirelli Pzero. Guess a lot of it is personal preference.

The only issue with P-Zero Rossos is that due to the rim protector being proud of the outer lip when the car is under compression it has a tendancy to rub against the wheel arch lip.

Can't stand either tire. I have a set of Pirelli's on a second set of speedlines and they are awful. The only positive I can come up with is the stiff sidewall gives better turn in than most of your other tires but the rubber compound has no bite and ride like truck tires. My PS2's are like glue in comparison much more supple ride and handle all conditions well by far the best street tire i have used in the wet. I also found them to be superior to the S02's which I had prior to the MPS2's

I hear the MPS2's now come in a 285 size. I am running 295's since they didn't offer a 285 when I was in the market.

With regards to Conti tires, I just fitted a set of Conti Extreme Contact DW, not DWS. They are very quiet, the ride is excellent and grip in dry and wet conditions is right up there with the best of them, and they sell for about half the cost of PS2

I second the MSP2's, they are so much better than the Bridgestones I replaced them with. They do come in 285, that is what I have.

888, IMO. Not as agressive as MPSC, but much better at dealing with Standing Water. Road tyres just suck, unless you're after a 10k tyre service interval.

James I`m sure Richard would say I`m crazy if i tell him I`m putting on 888`s.

Current tyres are 6 years old and still plenty of tread so wearing a tyre out is unlikely to happen with the miles I do (or maybe its my granny driving style).
