Default Sprung a leak

I'm not sure whether it was there before, but I certainly don't remember having oil splats on the decklid where the 'Turbo' badge is. I imagine some of it is due to the fact I was doing 250km/h on the autobahn.

I am a complete novice when it comes to my engine and have no clue what most of the parts are - apart from the obvious ones that is.

I have taken some (bad) photos (using my phone) to try and show where the leak is coming from. I have added the links to the pictures so that you can see them at full resolution:

I hope they're good enough to see some detail. Any thoughts?

Rich it looks like your chain housing is leaking. I would also clean and look at crimped connection on your oil line.

Thanks for the reply Kevin, I'm not sure where either of those parts are in the engine bay, but I'll take a look in the manual.

It seems no one else has an idea, it's either that or my photos are so bad or they didn't like the England 1-1 USA score yesterday!!

Its really hard to diagnose a leak from just a couple of pictures. When the car is moving, the oils can get everywhere.

That's not a big deal--just tighten up (by hand) the small nuts that surround the chain housings (left and right). Spray on some brake cleaner to take off the seepage and then see how you did.

I took it to the Porsche indy and they said there were a few of the usual leaks forming and that I should really just get all the oil lines and connectors replaced - between 1000 to 2000 Euros.

The weird thing was, a couple of days after I got home, the leak stopped, there are no more drips forming... and yes there is still oil in the car!!

Anyhow, I figure as long as there are no drips, I should just kepp driving it right?

After some spirited driving down the autobahn on the weekend with some Porsche friends, the leak appears to have come back - nevermind, I'll just have to get it fixed in the winter...

I have always been told not to worry about the minor oil leaks and consider them as Porsche marking it's territory
