US 94 turbo 3.6 Vin info needed!!!
Ok, I hate to bring this back up but after reading some posts and doing some research I might be onto something that is easiest to start with the US 94 turbo.
Apparently the first 60 serial numbers of each MY were used as test mules. I found that all 928 GTS's begin with vin number xx61. Every US 928 GTS has been accounted for and all manufacturing info has been obtained. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the 911's and there are numbers used but not 100% confirmed.
We know that the first 288 cars sold were M718 coded to change the MY from a 1993 to a 1994 but used P coded engines vs the balance of cars which used R coded engines. There is no difference otherwise.
What i am looking for is evidence of a vin number below xx61. I don't need the actual number just a yes or no if they have a car that is in the range of xxx1 to xx60. I believe we know cars exist in the x289 to x348 range number but this would be of help also.
I have a large list of vin numbers I accumulated over the years but none are below xx61.
The next info needed would be anything above vin number X466. This is believed to be the last serial number used on a 1994 US turbo S Flachbau. If you have one above this number that info would help also.
It may be very well possible that the numbers used to define the quantity of US 94 turbos is incorrect and it might carry over into other MY's also but I figured this is the most easily recognizable study group and help us determine if there were 466, 406 or 346 US MY 94 turbos made.
I decided to make this a poll to make it easier. You should fall in one of these categories which might tell us something. Remember this is for US MY 1994 turbos only.

Thanks we will figure this out eventually.
Francisco, All the US cars are R vin. They would have an M718 code if the engine was P vs R vin. Assuming your car is number 281 i am assuming it has option code M718 and has a P code engine like mine.
Thanks

Cobalt, I looked on the sticker under the hood and do not see the M718 option, do you have a picture of how this should look like, maybe I am not looking on the right place. As to the P code engine, I will look into that and let you know.

x90 ?
139 Seat Heating - Left
340 Seat heating - Right
407 18-inch polished wheels
looks like 850 ? or possibly 650 - sunroof (it does have a sunroof)
935 Seat cover rear RLL
980 Seat cover - Raff - leather
09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme
10232 ?
10471 ?
11391 ?
I've used all the option decoders i could find on the net but haven't been able to decode the ones with a question mark.

The car doesn't have M718, it has the following codes:

As far as the exclusive program, do you have any special wood trim, deviated coloring of the seats or other non standard options? Those numbers would relate to those options. I am guessing you might have the rootwood shifter or handbrake as the option codes of the car I listed above reference 10471 also and it has this option, however it also has deviated piping on the seats.
I would also expect that the code is 650 vs 850 since all the cars had the sunroof option as standard but was listed as part of the options at no charge.
IIRC X90 is the turbo script wheel center caps polished.

As I would have expected. With a serial number of 291 we should see the 718 code disappear at 289. If no cars are numbered below xx61 or above x466 than we can conclude that only 406 of the US cars were imported instead of the 466 originally believed. Subtract the 39 turbo S flachbau's and 17 Package cars we could be at 350 stock US 94 turbos made. This would explain why only so many of these cars surface.

It doesn't have any special wood trim or deviated coloring of the seats. It does have the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests. The center caps have the Porsche crest, but as I am the third owner (as of 7 years ago) they could have been replaced.

I am at a loss for 10471. the car that I posted the vin tag does not have crested seats. These codes are near to impossible to decipher since they were all internal to the exclusive department. There must be something unique they did that matches but who knows what it is.
