Default 3.3 Oil Filter Part Number

I did a search on this with no luck. I appologize if this has been touched on in the past... I've always had the local shop change the oil, but I do this on my other cars and should be doing it on this one as well.
Anyway, I picked up a Mahle filter #944 107 201 08/67 (OC 142) and a couple of crush washers to tackle this myself. I'm currious about the filter number. The number listed in Pelican ends in 03 M67. Does anyone know if the filter I have is correct?
Also, I seem to recall a comment in the past regarding the torque settings for the drain and the thermostat plugs. Are the values in Adrian's book correct?

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks Jerry... I pulled the old one off and it's a Mahle CO142. I guess they are either both right or both wrong! Jerry, let me know what you find out when you have time. I'm not in any hurry. At this point I won't get back to it until later this week.

you can use the 142, it for the 944, 944 turbo.... seems like alot of people use that filter, although porshe says to use a 944 107 201 03...it is a slightly bigger filter....vinnie

Thanks for the clarification Vinnie. I guess I'll stick this one on for now. I'll order a -03 this week and put it on later. In the meantime, I run it with the -08. I suspect it isn't too small that it would cause a problem.
I wouldn't be surprised if it has had the -08 type on it for the past five years that I've owned it!

if you want the proper filter, you need to order it from porsche....most aftermarket venders claim the 03 and 08 are the same.....i like factory filters.....just my input....vinnie

I took your advice and ordered the factory filter from our local dealer. It will be here Thur so I can finish this job this weekend. I'll pass the one I bought on to one of our local 944 owners.
That for all the help!

Gary
