Hi guys. Its wastegate time on the recommisioning job.First question, can anyone tell me the type of seal or gasket that should be between the cast iron core and the alloy cannister? There was a sort of asbestos seal there when I took it apart but I dont think it was original.Should I be going down the 46mm Tial wastegate route and if so,where can I buy one?Any help would be greatly appreciated

The wastegate valve guide is another wear item that I don't believe is available unless one has a lathe and can make it.
I had a new diaphragm for mine but the valve guide was badly worn. Also the fiber washer (insulator) had perished. At that point I cut my losses and bought a Tial.

Duncan,
We've done a lot of wategate replacements and usually fit a Turbosmart unit which has optional weld-on or bolt-on flange adapters for the 930/964 models. The last time I remember selling one it was around £400 & the bolt-on adapter was about £75. If you want more details, call Peter in our office.

yYes it's an asbestos washer. I've made some replicas from graphite embedded stainless mesh material for other people before, as well as machined valve guides for those who are hell bent on repairing the stock valve.
Tial is the best way to go for the money. almost like a fire and forget type of mod as far as durability is concerned.
