Isn't this strange since there are only a few options mentioned on the sticker?
Or are they all linked the the exclusive code?

I'm starting to get really interested in this car :-)

I was at one time the second private owner of a so called "Werkswagen". The car had been used for three years (91-93) by an exec at Porsche and it had several X-codes. Most of them was related to interior leather options and a paint to sample, leather colour was also colored from a sample.

Vincent,

according to this list http://porsche.elevate.nl/technical/OptionCodes.html it seams that a lot of the options are standard.

Not so sure t hat is correct. I have the same option on my turbo and it is listed as XD4 although this car did come with polished centered speedlines vs the paint centers that are currently on the car so X90 might be for polished crested center caps.

I guess the options for leather and everything else must fall under the 09991 although my car has that also and I am not sure what else was special wishes on my car.

I believe there were four different possibilities for rim caps:

1. Turbo script cap - standard
2. XD4 Porsche Crest Rim Caps (4) - these are the silver engraved crests
3. X90 Rim Caps w/ Porsche Crest - these are the colored painted crests

and one variation on #3

4. X89 Rim Caps Painted Porsche Crest w/ XD9 - these are the colored painted crests on caps painted to match the wheels if the wheels were custom painted - my car had this option as the wheels were ordered metallic black

Hmm.. I've got none of those centre cap option codes listed, yet I've got the painted crests on my Cup rims.

I wonder if any of this wierdness with option codes is down to dealers swapping things over at a customers request (not at build/order time, but at a later date).

Rim caps are probably one of the most commonly changed out Porsche parts ... that a car does not have its original caps should not be a surprise ....

In fact today it is much harder to find a set of standard turbo script caps than a set of painted crest caps ...

I have option code XD4 on both my turbo and 928GTS The turbo has speedlines the GTS has Cup I's which were first used on the 928. Both C of A's I have for these cars say painted Porsche crest rim caps and both cars came with them so I am at a loss. I am attaching a picture from around what i was told was 1995 so if they were switched it was done very early on but that doesn't explain the 928.

BTW this site has them as http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp
XD4 as Porsche crest rim caps and X89 as painted Porsche Crest rim caps. So I guess we can all guess to what the truth is but i would have to assume that we are on the right track to them being about X90 being rim caps. Although there must have been a special option for painted crest rim caps with polished caps to match the Turbo S's polished speedlines vs the standard painted center speedlines.

here is another turbo 3.6 with option code XD4 and it has painted crest rim caps so I must assume XD4 is the option code for this item.

I have that combo too...

... mine's slightly different in that I have black carpet on the floor and door pockets though. Oh, and no curved knee pad (not available on rhd 964 models).
