It has a plastic insert in the spare wheel well that has a recess big enough to hold an air compressor.
That should put to rest the debate on effect of the spare in a frontal crash once and for all.

i did own the '97 Turbo S Red/Tan that was owned by MJ.
Beleive it or not he fits in one. I went to Wake Forest in the 80's but went to summer school at UNC one year. One day there was a pick up game at the basketball court outside the some of the major dorms on campus. All of the sudden MJ pulls up in an 84 maroon Targa Carrera and gets out and joins the game. The interior seemed stock, maybe they had just moved the seat back for him on the frame.

I saw this California plate "MCL JRDN" red 993 Turbo S on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks (suburb of Los Angeles) the day before yesterday. Could that be MJ's car, moved to California?
