In Hawaii, it's sleeping. In Ohio, ...it's hibernation.

If Al Gore could come through for me I could enjoy my car all year long! Where's my global warming?!

How long is your car in hibernation or sleeping for?

Just put mine down today. She'll be under the knife for various things until next April, possibly May.

I filled up gas today and will be taking her out for a Toys 4 Tots drive tomorrow. It's getting cold though, 70* at night.

Only the winter months; December, January and February.

Well, if it starts to snow early or they put salt on the roads I will put her to sleep then...

I got the impression I needed to drive my 964 Turbo every week as if I leave it more than that, it tends to be a bit jerky. Do you do anything to store it? What about preventing flat spots on the tyres? Do you fill the petrol/gas tank to full?

Mine is never sleeping! There will be days when it's sunny and 20 degrees and the roads will be calling.

I respect you guys that do that but it would drive me crazy on a 50 degree day (rare but it happens) in January through February...I don't put enough miles on it as it stands now...I'd be down to about 1.5K per year if I didn't drive it November through March....it will never see snow and not intentionally see rain.

Sleep well!

I got my mechanic to go over the car to check for anything that needed to be taken care of before the next 3 months. Luckily there was nothing.

This is some of the things I have done before storing it.
# Added air to the tires
# Filled the gas tank
# Plugged in the car charger/maintainer
# Covered it up with a car cover

I am still looking for gas stabilizer and a set of flat-stoppers (or whatever they are called) : http://www.p9raceshop.com/db_images/...erssetof41.jpg

During the winter months I have been advised to start the car shortly (only some few secs) to keep the oil floating.

That pretty much sum up what I do to store my car

^^^ I was always advised not to start the car during storage. Can anyone enlighten me?

Default mothballs?

I've also heard to put some mothballs into 4 paper cups and place each cup under the car next to each wheel. it will keep the mice away ...also any moths.

If you start the car and just let it idle, it will take a very long time to reach normal operating temperature, and especially during the winter where it is colder. When the car don't reach operating temperature it can result in condensation.

What I have been advised is to start the car for only a few seconds, this should keep the oil floating. Maybe someone else has inputs on this ?
