Default To get stoned or not?

So it has taken me 2 days of on and off work to remove the 3m stone guards.
How many of you replace them with new guards (which I have) and how many leave them off completely..........just curious.

Thanks

Unless you want to repaint that area of your car in a short while you will have to replace them. It looks great with new ones on and next time you can replace them in 4 or 5 years if you like and they will be easier to get off.

Thanks Jerry
Yeah I was thinking that its a pretty bad area for potential stone chips and sand blasting.......
I just dread the thought of peeling those friggin things off again.

Maybe I'll velcro them on, Ha ha

Chas, there is a clear stone guard that cover the shark fins too.
They were omitted on my car and the shark fins were beat up pretty good. I had them repainted and covered.
That's an indication that your flairs will get chipped up very fast.
You may consider buying the small mud guards that came on the Turbo 3.6. They aid in keeping the rocks off the rear flairs too.

+1. Best advice you can receive on this stuff. Also make sure you have the tall guards and not the short ones. I have seen both used from the factory.

I have both sets, the uppers and the lowers correct.
The other one goes down lower underneath the ones I scraped off correct?

There is the one that covers the lower plastic cover AKA shark fin and the one that goes under that cover and extends upwards on teh body. The upper one came in 2 lengths. The taller one looks like the older 930 black piece in shape the shorter one extends half the distance and just runs flat across the top. The shorter one was also used on the turbo S's due to the vents. not sure why they used one vs the other on the stock turbos.

This is the best picture I have of the shorter version vs the taller version my car came with.

2 things: First, once you have replaced them they will come off much easier next time around; in fact you can probably just pull them with one try. Second, Install the new clear guards along the rubber seal and not under the fin so you can take them on and reinstall them without removing the fin.
