Yes he will be sorely missed, and I promised we would stay in touch to share some advice on my turbo, with the things he did to his Flatnose.

The car was well executed and what a huge enthusiast with a great heart.

I just can't believe he has gone. RIP James.

So im the new custodian of this car, ive been restoring it for the last year to a level which is to the level if not beyond what James achieved.

When i purchased the car it was in ok condition but had been slightly neglected, not in a bad way but not to the level of my OCD. All of the body has been repainted, 90% of the ancillary parts are new, the interior has been completely redone to an extremely high level. I've replicated the Porsche exclusive 964s with the correct period gold calipers and amethyst pearl speedline centres. When i say the interior is full leather even the frunk carpet fasteners are in leather.

I also managed to find the period carbon kevlar bonnets as used on all 964 turbo S lightweights.

Unfortunately the biggest issue with this car is the engine,as great as it was for single runs at high speed it really was a messy unit with some seriously shoddy engineering which unfortunately caused a engine fire the day the full restoration was complete. the car has now been repaired and the engine is being made good to the highest Porsche Motorsport standards.

Welcome aboard!
I had wondered what became of what is now your car.
Looks very nice, especially the interior.
So what was the engine output before you resolved the engine issue? In the 911 & Porsche World article James was coy about the figures but I had always believed the figure to be in excess of 800 hp. If the article was to be believed, there were some pretty exotic things done to the heads to get them to live at high boost. Did you revert the engine spec to something that was more driveable?
The braided fuel lines running all over are a letdown and would give any prospective owner seeing them an indication of the path ahead. The article gave one the impression that the engine work had been top notch, which now in hindsight was extremely misleading.
