Default Clean or replace rock guard?

I actually have no idea what this part is called so I'll try to my best to describe it.

Along the base of the car (on both sides) just above the rocker panels, right where the rear end starts to get wider, there appears to be a thin plastic/rubber guard that protects the body from rocks.

I've scrubbed this thing and used different cleaners and I just can't get it clean. Its covered in black marks from where rocks have hit the guard. Any suggestions?

Try bug /Tar remover. If the plastic is scratched you will have to replace them.

If you are referring to the thin, clear plastic guard on the fender flair, the best option is to replace it.
This was discussed at length last year around this time so a search will give you the procedure for removing the old one and applying the new one.

The clear film has a clear coat paint on it like our cars bumpers. You want to be careful not to use anything too harsh or abrasive. Try some polish like you would on your paint. If the damage is too deep replace them. I recommend buying a set from a clearbra installer vs the factory part. The factory parts are expensive and use old film usually sitting on some shelf for years.

I replaced all 4 pieces with OEM 3m stuff, I was a bit hesitated before the installation but the result was excellent. I think it also depends on the installer and how they prep the car.

Below are the part number:

You don't have a GP White car, do you? If so, the factory film is white, not clear as on other color cars. I was unable to locate an aftermarket replacement for mine and ended up needing to special order replacement film from Germany.

Some cars received colored pieces others clear there were also tall and short upper pieces used. Have not been able to figure out why they chose some to be colored and others not or why some have a short upper piece and others long.
