By the way, Minty was one of my all time favorite P cars. But the reaction from all made me angry. I guess the writers do not know what loss is.

Well put. Losing my child gave a very different point of view.

I am sorry for your loss. Loosing a child is probably the most painful of losses and it must hurt deeply.

Guys.....I would urge reconciliation, much has been said and little gained IMHO. Minty is to be repaired having been sold today for £13,200 on Bluecycle so for someone their journey with the car, (or parts of it) is just beginning, which is a win/win.

My experience of difficult experience is that time heals many wounds......perspective or comparison isn't reflected in my original post about Minty's demise, but then it was never meant to be. This is a car forum and as such I was reflecting on a subject matter that I expected to be of interest to many. If it wasn't, don't take offence just don't read it, move on & everyone's happy.

Feel the love..., peace & respect........ 'cos life's too short, especially at 65.

At £13,200 it was a steal.

Not sure if my source picked it up but having been quoted over £18,000 for a rebuild of a 3.6T engine (asked for if i blew mine on a rally or a track) the spare engine option seemed viable.

A total reworking for the road as a keeper for someone, even at Cat C, would seem viable.

get the convertible "minty"...not the same power but it's 1 of 1 and you can drop the top and let the air cool your anger down

Default minty

hi guys i was bidding on bluecycle for minty,it was me and one other person in the end,the only thing that put me off was the fact that it said in the advert that apart from all the damage you could see in the pictures, which was major was that the engine and trans was damaged as well,as could be seen on the 3 or 4 pictures of the underside.
anyway the car was repairable but will need a deep wallet to return to its former glory.
p.s thanks steve for the tip on the new speedlines at porsche a part they got me 2 brand new ones in the end for about 2k.

Hey man, that's a bit strong, not like you.
But to some extent I agree. Its ridiculous to revere 'minty'. I know the OP had a special like for it, and some of the members here, but tbh there are many who don't agree its a special example of a 965 anyway, the colour not being to everyone's taste. No offense.

First and foremost "sorry for your loss".

With that said, this is a car forum. If i had a dollar for everytime I heard "how much money you spend on a car" I would be a rich man(our obsessions are hard to understand outside of the car realm). I'm sure the original OP did not intentionally compare a car to a human being. But being that this is a CAR forum he was well within the lines.

Sorry for your loss, but saying that things are not ok. You personal loss doens't justify for your behavoir.

I sense you need to talk about your loss, but this is a car forum and you might not get the necessary help here.

Minty is now advertised on an infamous UK-based car salvage company's website @ £25K!!! At that price there is no way it is economic to repair - even at £13k they'd be pushing it for a prpoer job...see here: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1250092.htm

Tough to see again..even tougher numbers which don't seem to add up regrettably.

Got to be £55k to buy back and repair, with a final value at best of £35k?

As they say...I'M OUT !!
