Talking First post as 'Member'

It took a while and as far as 'other' web-based forums go I'm not exactly a virgin, but I thought it was time to introduce myself to all at Rennlist (964T).

Car - 1993 3.6L 964T in Mint Green,
Location - Dorset, UK

Hi all; and to those who know me from elswhere

Hi Andy,

Good to see you over here - it's a bit busier than the PCGB forum!

Unfortunately you have made a faux pas - no pictures. To correct this you must post lots of pictures of your car and you also need to tell its story - lots of the chaps on here will have seen the Tiff video....

Over to you sir.

Cheers,

Tim.

P.S. Your links to said video aren't working

Hi Tim

Good to speak again. Talking about our '64's...hmm that will be chore wont it. Will have to get used to the new ways of Rennlist signatures etc, but a bit too late tonight - got to be up 'stupid o' clock' to go to London tmrw. In the mean time here's some pics...details of car (known to you) to follow.

How's Zermatt - been out much in the recent good weather?

Cheers m8

Hi all,

Thanks for the welcome from both sides of the 'pond' much appreciated.

Mark - your right it is clean both inside and out and I am guilty of treating her with 'kid gloves' but then she's new (to me), only purchased in Sept '08. I know your a 'user' I recall from this past posted picture; one at the back is your 3.3 with 3.6 up front right? I want to come along to the next track day with other '64T's - keep me posted.

asimler - the 911 HUL plate is the one used by Porsche GB for all Press Launch Turbo's, from the early days right up to date. I put the number on the car as a show plate only as Minty was first registered with it in 1993.

What's the chance of all the UK Rennlist 3.3's and 3.6's being at say Silverstone Classic this year? That would be a sight for sore eyes !

Drew, nice little pic. Yes that's me at the back, the car in front belongs to Phil and its a lovely midnight 3.3 X33 with speedlines, and debadged so many people do mistake it for a 3.6.

The best turnout we had was on an informal gathering I think was 6, it might have been at the Ace, or PCGB Cornbury House. That was pretty impressive because we were all together as opposed to spread around which is what you get at the official events (unless someone thinks to arrange something).

Unfortunately, I am now a mere 965 passenger or groupie. My previous car was sold to a dealer who sold it on to someone in South london, I believe, but haven't heard anything more...yet.

Hi Andy,

Car looks absolutely lovely! I've not been using mine as much as I'd like as the heating's non-existent, so it's going in next week for what will no doubt be another wallet emptier! Although the recent warmer weather has been nice and so I've taken it out several times in the last few weeks - roll on Spring!

Cheers,

Tim.

Indeed we must. Let me know if you ever intend to make it up to Cornbury House.

Default Minty's storey since 10/05/1993

Ok here goes...........went to the UK 1993 Earls Court Motor Show London, (aged 25) and saw the car at 45 degrees - hung 20 feet above the ground on a dummy race track and drained of her fluids; it made quite an impression! Later I saw it on Top Gear and knew nothing of the mint green limited numbers produced, or indeed the total limited number of 83 UK - RHD's.

After a bad bike accident 14 yrs ago I stopped the Ducati obsession and got into Porsche, (since then I have never fallen off a car so I must be doing something right). In ‘06 I decided to do a little research on 'minty' only to be firmly 'put off' by the statistical likelihood of finding her. A daily search since then resulted in a few good cars being found, ('Northway' having one of the best which went to Ireland). Then I saw a Maritime Blue 3.6T for sale on the Web. It was to be sold so imagine my surprise when I looked further on their website to find they had two, and the other was 'minty'; surprised…a little! J

Since first register on 10/05/1993 the car has had 6 keepers, the first being Porsche UK who used it as a 3.6T Model Launch car until 13/10/1993. Over 15 yrs it has always been regularly maintained, averaging just 5051 miles p/yr, the last 9 yrs of which were by the same dealer who sold it to me.

I was recently contacted by a guy on the PCGB Forum who stated…”If I remember correctly, there was only 2 turbo’s supplied in the UK, in Mint Green. The one you have there, and my dad and me owned the other. Ours had two-tone interior, and a sports exhaust. It didn’t half used to pop and bang on the over run. We only had it a short period of time, and sold it due to my fathers ill health. We bought it from Glenvarigil at the time, now the OPC in Glasgow UK”.

So they are rare, and even rarer it seems in RHD Mint Green.

Will I ever sell? It’s highly unlikely. What’s next? An Orange GT3RS. And after then? A GT2, if I’m not divorced by then. No kids you see and what else can you do with that inheritance…there are no pockets in a shroud!

PS - for the very perceptive amongst you...the two-tone interior in the Tiff video is different from now as it's totally brand new, costing £4k.

Great story Andy! You must have an understanding wife - I do, although I also have kids so an RS or a GT2 are unlikely for a very long time...

Cheers,

Tim.
