3.6 prices hit bottom?

Actually, I own two. I just don't see paying that much for an old Turbo, maybe I should edit my earlier post to only a 993 TT. Since I do own one of each a 993 and a 964. No turbos yet but would sell the 993 for a 996TT anytime. It's just the price point at about average $75K to $85K for a 993 TT? Maybe $48K tops for a 3.6 Turbo (low miles). Man I have seen some killer deals on 996TT here now! That's a phenomenal car with incredible performance. Light years away from any air cooled turbo for almost half the price. I don’t know man that’s a tough one. I love my 993 S but it’s got its quirks. I took some pictures of my S today and might be putting it up for sale to get a 996 TT.

I do agree that the falling 996tt prices do put pressure on the 964t & 993tt prices. I suspect that the 996tt prices will continue to be below the aircoled turbos, but I don't think you'll see the 91-92 964t continue to appreciate. The 3.6t is a rare bird and will likely do better IMO.
Suspension is not really that different, but the engine is far more complex.

I would not trade my 94 turbo for a new GT2 although I have seen some modified 997GT3's I might consider but those cars have $50+k in mods and are in an entirely different category. Nice cars very capable and IMO they finally got it right again. However, these cars have nothing on driving pleasure like the earlier turbos or 911's. I have toyed with trading my 93 C2 in for a 996TT as a track car but I still can't find it in myself to do so. I just had my C2 at VIR. Great track that favors the higher powered cars. I was still able to make it through parts of the track faster than some of the turbo cars. I might only be able to hit 135 on the back straight but after a point who cares if you hit 135 or 155 if I am catching the turbos through the roller coaster and it takes them most of the straight to pull on me. For me like many it is not about being the fastest but it is about the interaction between the car and driver. As the Cadillac commercial goes. "when you turn your car on does it do the same in return" To me the 94 turbo has it hands down for raw driving pleasure. A challenge to drive correctly with all your senses being stimulated at the same time. Excitement is never lacking and it is me driving the car not some computer. With the newer cars unless you are at 95% these cars do nothing to thrill me. I don't need nor want all the gizmos, bells and whistles in my sports car. I don't even turn on the radio, I get in and I drive and every time I step on the gas it brings a smile to my face. I have driven just about every modern Porsche and although highly impressive they don't come close to being the exciting experience a 94 turbo is.
So if you are looking to win a race buy a 997GT3 Cup car. If your looking to have fun buy a 94 turbo or 993TT whichever you prefer. However, with so few good examples left you have few to chose from and as you know supply and demand rules. Why do you think 73 RS's go for so much $$ because they aren't fast and they aren't modern but boy are they light and fun.
Good Luck but I know more people selling their 997's to buy 964's and 993's than the other way around and there is a reason for that.

FWIW i have had the pleasure of owning 964,993 & 997 and can say that the first one i would let go is the 997. For someone new to Porsche it is hard to explain. The 997 is everything anyone would expect and more in a sports car, but I could not see myself letting go of the 964, or 993. These cars are Raw and sophisticated at the same time, not to mention that they are so dam rare - even seeing another one makes me excited. I realize that $$$$ has a lot to do with everyone's decision in buying or selling these babies, but i guarantee you will regret selling a 964 Turbo if you have ever the pleasure of owning one. One must factor in the cost of this future agony.

Yes, that is very true.

The Turbo 3.6 has more presence than the newer cars
It's nothing special [one viewer stated as much], but this video of my car doing 20 mph shows what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqZDVwfzAew

I could buy any Porsche I want I chose the 94 turbo for old school charm, classic styling and great performance with a rush and connection to the road that none of the newer cars offer. The 993TT was my second choice. I would never take a newer car over these cars for build quality style and driving pleasure. IMO Porsche hit it's pinnacle in the 90's with just about every model they offered being both quality and a thrill to drive. I cannot say that about some of the newer cars.
