Default might buy a 94 3.6 TT

I have always loved the looks of a 94 3.6 Turbo and have always been on the look out for the right blk blk car. I finally have come across a 22,000 miles blk blk all stock car with very good detailed service history. The car is not in my area so I will not have a chance to drive the car before I decide. While I love the looks I was looking for some feedback on what the driving experience is really like in these cars as I have never driven a 964 Turbo. My current P cars are a 2007 GT3 (white) and a 2008 turbo cab ( blk blk ) Thanks in advance..

Have had most of the modern GTcars (2/3/RS) , but always fancied the car that IMO is one of the best looking 911s of all time. Saw the Paragon car this morning, drove it and bought it.

Awesome motor!

No brainer in my book. Buy it! And if you don't like it, selling it will not be difficult. As they say, try it on for size...

(It is on my "next 5 Porsche" list... 94 3.6Ts are pure sex on wheels)

Good luck...

A 964 3.6T is very different than a GT3 (I've only driven a GT3 RS, so that is my basis for comparison). The GT3 RS pulls hard, but only at high rpms. The 3.6T has so much low end torque, that it feels faster, even though it is not. I suspect it will feel just as fast as your 997tt, as the turbo lag makes it seem faster. The steering feels more connected to the road in a 3.6T, but the GT3 feels more planted, especially over bumps. The braking of both cars is absurdly good.

Net-net, I think you will enjoy the 3.6T, but find it different. It will be like have one blonde and one brunette and getting to choose each day

I agree - they are two very different cars (especially stock vs. stock) so I have some justification to own both. IMHO, the GT3 pulls like a freight train, rather linear, with particular punch above 5,000 rpms and great sound. The 964T feels sluggish, like a NA 964 below 3,500 rpm but all hell breaks loose above that. With a stock exhaust, the 964T is a very quit car. Personally, my GT3 feels faster and it is less stressful to drive at the limit. Handling wise, the GT3 feels like a Go-Kart. Installation of headers and 1 bar spring made a big difference on the 964 turbo, where power delivery is now much more linear. Don't expect anything from the 964T air con, radio or trip computer. or you will be disappointed.

Keep in mind that the 964 turbo is a much much smaller car than the GT3 and that you will sit much more upright in it. The cabin is also much quieter at normal freeway speeds. For whatever reason, I get more thumbs up in the GT3 than the turbo.

Personally I like the older P cars more than the new ones. I find the old ones, especially the 964s to be more 'right' - headlights stands more uprising and things like that. Also, the 964 is a good combination of old and new - it has the classic look and not too much of the fancy stuff which interferes with your driving; but you still have ABS and Airbag.

What is wrong with these items.?.The stock radio will need an upgrade(hey it's from 1994) the AC worked great in mine as well as the trip computer..

The 94 3.6t is a great car but in the end it's from 1994. So it will seem a bit nostalgic. With a few simple upgrades the car is hard to beat. In looks and performance..

I am just comparing to the GT3. It also bugs me that the computer doesn't show fuel consumption.

The computer can't show fuel consumption because the fuel delivery system isn't electronic :-)

fuel consumption is easy to calculate on our cars, the range is from "a lot" to "holy crap" I believe the difference is most apparent when you here the wastegate growling!!!!
